Wonder Woman 1984 star Gal Gadot confirms the end of filming on the highly anticipated sequel. Warner Bros. and DC Films moved quickly to get a sequel to Wonder Woman off the ground, after receiving rave reviews and earning over $800 million at the box office. That success has made Gadot the face of the DC Extended Universe (as it's been unofficially named).

Thankfully, WB was able to bring nearly the entire gang back for the sequel. Patty Jenkins signed back on to direct after lengthy contract negotiations, earning herself a big raise. The surprising return for many was the reveal that Chris Pine would come back as Steve Trevor, despite Wonder Woman 1984 taking place decades after the first film. The sequel also received some high profile additions to its cast through Kristen Wiig as Cheetah and Pedro Pascal as an undisclosed villain. There have only been a few looks at the sequel's production that were of any significance, but no more such set photos or videos will come.

Star Gadot confirmed on Instagram today that Wonder Woman 1984 has wrapped filming. She shared three photos from the filming process. Two of the photos show her in the brighter Wonder Woman costume, while the other is a behind-the-scenes look at a conversation between Gadot and Jenkins. The two women are shown together in all three of the photos, showing just how closely they worked together. Gadot also penned a heartfelt caption to express her feelings about the production process overall.

Wonder Woman 1984 officially began filming in the middle of June, so this marks the end of a production that lasted just over six months. Almost every single look at the film that surfaced from the set featured Gadot, and she was accompanied by Pine more often then not. This is true of not only the unofficial looks at Wonder Woman 1984, but also for the official images that Jenkins and Gadot shared throughout filming.

Even though production is now done, fans hoping for the first trailer will still likely have to wait a while. WB originally gave Wonder Woman 1984 a November 2019 release date, but they more recently announced that the film was pushed back to June 2020. This is to give Jenkins a bit more time to complete the film properly, and so the sequel can launch in the same window as the first film. The first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 may have to wait till next summer to debut instead, but hopefully some more details on the story or first looks at the new characters will arrive before then.
