Halo 3 Multiplayer Testing Starts Soon For Master Chief Collection On PC

343 Industries will begin multiplayer testing for Halo 3 in the PC version of The Master Chief Collection much sooner than expected. Halo 2: Anniversary came to the MCC on PC earlier this month, marking the third in a total of six games that are being added to the collection over time.

The older games in the Halo series have found new life thanks to the PC port of The Master Chief Collection. Halo fans on PC had been asking for a way to play the complete series for years, but were mostly given the cold shoulder by Microsoft. However, that is now changing as Microsoft moves towards unifying its available games and their player bases across Windows 10 and Xbox. The remastered versions of Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 are now playable on PC, and these classics have gained an enthusiastic new community and a boost in popularity as a result. The multiplayer modes of its first three games may be alive and thriving once again, but the best is still to come for The Master Chief Collection on PC.

The most recent development update from 343 Industries has confirmed that PC multiplayer tests for Halo 3 in The Master Chief Collection will be starting very soon. The first stage of flighting for the game is already underway, and 343 is intending to get a full flight build out to its partners in the Halo Insider program within the next week. If all goes well, 343 will kick off public testing for Halo 3 at some point during the first half of June.


As the post points out, these multiplayer tests are happening much earlier than the ones for previous games in the Master Chief Collection. Halo 2: Anniversary only dropped a couple weeks ago, which was two months after the surprise launch of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary in March. Following that schedule, the PC version of Halo 3 may come to The Master Chief Collection as early as July if its multiplayer tests are going to take place so soon.

The sooner PC players can get their hands on Halo 3, the better. While it did not receive an "Anniversary" edition like Halo and Halo 2 did, Halo 3 is arguably the best game in the Master Chief Collection - and certainly one of the best first-person shooters ever made. Also unlike Halo and Halo 2, it has never been available on PC, so eager new players and veteran fans will be able to experience the game's beloved multiplayer suite with a new coat of paint.
