Elizabeth Olsen loves working with director Sam Raimi on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The next chapter in Wanda Maximoff's Marvel Cinematic Universe story is about to unfold with WandaVision. The Disney+ show will be the first time Scarlet Witch gets a leading role in an MCU property and show what comes next for her after Avengers: Endgame. While fans are eager to unravel the mystery of WandaVision, the series is also directly setting up Scarlet Witch's return in Doctor Strange 2.

Marvel Studios announced in 2019 that Wanda would co-star in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness alongside Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. We've yet to see how Marvel sets Scarlet Witch up for this appearance, but WandaVision has been described as a natural progression to Doctor Strange 2. What might surprise some is that production is already underway on the movie. Olsen, Cumberbatch, and other cast members are in London currently to film the sequel, which has Spider-Man director Sam Raimi attached following Scott Derrickson's exit last year.

Raimi's involvement in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one of the most exciting aspects of the film for fans, especially since the first two installments of the original Spider-Man trilogy are still highly regarded. Marvel has yet to show anything from Doctor Strange 2 that teases us with how Raimi's vision is shaping up. But in a new interview with Collider, Elizabeth Olsen was asked about working with Raimi. So far, Olsen has thoroughly enjoyed this collaboration.

"I love Sam Raimi. He's a lovely person and I really enjoy our playfulness together of just kind of allowing ourselves to discover new things. He's a great energy and a very specific filmmaker and loves playing with his camera. It's been fun."

The enjoyment that Olsen is having on Raimi's set is hopefully a feeling reciprocated by the rest of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' cast. The movie also includes the MCU returns of Wong (Benedict Wong), Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), and it will even see the debut of Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. Filming began in late 2020, and it sounds like everything is going well so far - other than the fact that the production is currently shut down due to London's COVID-19 lockdown.

Although Olsen didn't get too specific about working with Raimi, many fans feel like he is a perfect fit for Doctor Strange 2. Given his experience with superhero blockbusters and background with horror films, he has the right sensibilities to deliver a big and scary movie inside a PG-13 Marvel movie. And even though he hasn't directed a movie since 2013's Oz the Great and Powerful, it sounds like Raimi has quickly found his groove again with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
