Chloé Zhao's long-awaited Nomadland will be available to stream on Hulu starting February 19. The film, which stars two-time Oscar-winner Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Fargo), will premiere in select IMAX theaters on January 29 before hitting select drive-in and domestic theaters on February 19. Nomadland is Zhao's follow-up to her 2017 critically acclaimed western drama The Rider and is her third feature film overall. As a frontrunner in the Oscars race for Best Director and the director of Marvel's upcoming film The Eternals, Zhao is quickly becoming a household name.

The anticipation for Nomadland has been building for months and, according to Variety, Hulu subscribers will finally be able to see what the hype is about on February 19. The film takes place after the economic collapse of a rural mining town called Empire, Nevada, and tells the story of Fern (McDormand), a widow who lost everything during the Great Recession. In the hopes of finding new work, Fern packs up her van and begins traveling around the American West like a modern-day nomad. The film is based on author Jessica Bruder's nonfiction book of the same name and co-stars David Strathairn (The Expanse) as well as real-life nomads Linda May, Bob Wells, and Charlene Swankie.

Early reviews of the film have been overwhelmingly positive, with many critics predicting it will take home the Best Picture statue on Oscars night. Nomadland won top prizes at both the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival - making history as the first film to do so - and most recently won Best Feature Film at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Searchlight Pictures is distributing the film, and the Disney-owned studio plans to premiere it internationally beginning on March 4.
