New EA Play Members Can Get First Month for One Dollar

From now until March 9, all new EA Play members can access their first month of the subscription service for just $1. The publisher rebranded its online services last year, combining EA Access and Origin Access offerings under the EA Play umbrella. EA's subscription model also made headlines in 2020 due to the company's partnership with Xbox, which granted all Xbox Game Pass members access to EA Play at no extra cost.

EA Play, available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, charges members $5 per month for a variety of options. For one, subscribers receive a 10 percent discount on all EA digital purchases, including full games and DLC. The service also allows users to try out certain new releases from the publisher for up to 10 hours. Members additionally gain access to exclusive rewards, as well as a collection of EA-published games. Most notably, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order joined EA Play in November; by extension, Xbox Game Pass members can enjoy the highly-acclaimed title, too.

Incentivizing even more people to give the service a chance is a deal from EA, in which new EA Play subscribers can join and receive their first month for the low price of $1. Once the first month lapses, the monthly fee will jump back to the usual $5 price tag. This deal ends on March 9 and applies to new members across all platforms. It's worth noting, though, that whatever platform a subscriber chooses is the one they must stick with. Thus, a PC user cannot take advantage of their EA Play subscription on PlayStation 5.

EA Play at a mere $1 is a great deal for newcomers who are interested in what the service has on offer. Essentially, a user could pay the small fee, then spend the following 30 days making their way through Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Such an endeavor would particularly prove useful for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners, given the recent release of Fallen Order's next-gen update.

Hopefully, the next big EA Play-related news concerns a firm date for EA Play's functionality on PC with Xbox Game Pass. The two services were originally meant to converge on PC back in December. At the last minute, however, the companies postponed this availability to an unspecified date this year. Neither EA nor Microsoft have shared an update on the matter since then.
