Cyber Experts Warn Law Firms Likely Compromised in Microsoft's Exchange Server Hack

The Microsoft Exchange Server hack may expose firms that still haven't transitioned to cloud email services. But while some are confident firms have protected themselves accordingly, cybersecurity experts aren't quite as convinced.

 

Following the potentially historic data breach of IT management software provider SolarWinds late last year, law firms are dealing with another cyberattack that might hit closer to home. On March 2, Microsoft announced that some users of its Exchange Server were attacked.

Unlike SolarWinds, Exchange’s email, calendar and contacts features are heavily used by law firms of all sizes, observers said, meaning hackers could gain access to personally identifiable information (PII) that triggers data breach notifications and exposes client information.

Avoid unnecessary posts such as 'Thank you', 'Welcome', etc. Such posts will be deleted and user will be warned if it happens again. If caught spamming, the following actions are applicable -

• First time - Warning
• Second time - 5000 Points will be deducted
• Third time - Ban for 7 days
• Fourth time - Permanent Ban
