Mitchells vs. Machines Movie By Spider-Verse Producers Gets Netflix Release Date

Recommended Posts

From the producers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. The Machines receives a Netflix release date. Phil Lord, who also co-wrote Spider-Verse, and Christopher Miller first gained renown for creating their recently rebooted adult animated series Clone High. The acclaimed duo has gone on to direct, write, and produce several successful animated hits, including Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie.

Now Netflix has announced via Twitter that Lord and Miller's latest project, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, will be released on April 30. Once titled Connected, the sci-fi animated family comedy boasts an impressive voice cast headlined by Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Eric André, and Olivia Colman. After repeated attempts to find a suitable theatrical release date for the film, Sony opted to sell the rights to Netflix in January. Netflix's tweet was accompanied by the announcement of additional cast members, including SNL alum Fred Armisen and media mogul Chrissy Teigen, as well as a teaser clip that can be viewed below.

Lord and Miller, who previously worked with Netflix on the short-lived adult animated series Hoops, are also hard at work on the follow-up to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Backed by Miller's promise that the Spider-Verse sequel will feature even more stunning visuals than its predecessor, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 is currently scheduled to be released in 2022. For now, fans of the team's signature blend of humor and heart will have to sate their appetites with their newest Netflix offering when it's released later this spring.

Sylvester Stallone’s director’s cut of Rocky 4 gets an appropriate new title. The fourth installment in the original Rocky series famously took Stallone to Russia to do battle on behalf of American values (and his dead friend Apollo Creed) against hulking man-machine Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). Rocky IV may have been cheesier than prior entries in the series, but it still went on to gross $300 million worldwide, the most of any Rocky movie.
