With so many superheroes now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's easy to run into them on the street or even on the bus. At least, that's the case for one character from Spider-Man: Homecoming who makes a cameo appearance in the new trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Directed by Daniel Destin Cretton, Shang-Chi stars Kim's Convenience's Simu Liu as its titular superhero, who is the son of Marvel supervillain the Mandarin. After teen years of living a life of freedom, Shang-Chi is summoned by his father to come home and face his destiny. The trailer teases that Shang-Chi will end up fighting both the Mandarin and his henchmen, including a battle with Razor Fist on a moving bus.

Actor Zach Cherry's first MCU appearance was in a montage towards the start of Spider-Man: Homecoming, as a hot dog cart customer who spots Spider-Man on a rooftop. After Peter Parker asks him to "call me Spider-Man," Cherry replies, "OK, Spider-Man. Do a flip!" When Spider-Man obliges, he gets an enthused cheer. It's a memorable scene that highlights Peter's role as a "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" who has a good rapport with the people of his city. Writer Leah Marilla Thomas spotted Cherry as one of the passengers in Shang-Chi's bus scene, and when asked to confirm whether it was him, Cherry replied, "It's not not" with a wink emoji.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' bus chase sequence takes place in San Francisco (the bus drives past the entrance to Ghirardelli Square) rather than New York City, so it's currently uncertain whether Cherry is playing the same character or not. The MCU has reused actors for different roles in the past, such as Alfre Woodard (who played Miriam Sharpe in Captain America: Civil War and Mariah Dillard in Luke Cage) and Laura Haddock (who played an admiring fan in Captain America: The First Avenger and Star-Lord's mother in Guardians of the Galaxy). Of course, Cherry's character could simply be taking a trip to the West coast, or perhaps he's decided to move after all the alien attacks on New York.

San Francisco already has a resident superhero, Ant-Man, so it could also be a good tourist destination for those hoping to see a fantastical fight break out. And since Shang-Chi is the Master of Kung Fu, he can definitely do a flip.
