Netflix has revealed a first look image and the cast for its upcoming animated film America: The Motion Picture. The streamer is gearing up for an impressive slate of summer movies that includes Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead and the Amy Adams thriller The Woman in the Window. Netflix touted its upcoming offerings with new footage, first-look photos, finalized release dates, and a slew of other announcements from a wide range of upcoming films set to release between April and the end of August.

One of Netflix's most highly anticipated upcoming movies is America: The Motion Picture, an animated comedy featuring a star-studded cast. The project has been quiet since 2017 when it was announced that Channing Tatum would be voicing the chainsaw-wielding George Washington in the animated film. It was also previously known that Archer executive producer Matt Thompson would be directing with a script penned by Wonder Woman 1984 writer Dave Callaham. But now, Netflix has released all the information audiences need ahead of the film's release.

America: The Motion Picture sees George Washington assemble a team of famed agitators, including founding father Sam Adams, scientist Thomas Edison, horseman Paul Revere, and a “very pissed off” Geronimo, in order to defeat Benedict Arnold and King James in the American Revolution. The film’s official synopsis describes it as a "wildly tongue-in-cheek animated revisionist history." Check out the first look photo, as well as a brief teaser courtesy of Netflix, below.

America: The Motion Picture will release on Netflix June 30 and feature a star-studded cast that also includes Jason Mantzoukas, Olivia Munn, Bobby Moynihan, Judy Greer, Will Forte, Raoul Max Trujillo, Killer Mike, Simon Pegg, and Andy Samberg. Though it's hard to glean any extra details from the first look image and teaser, the description and cast of America: The Motion Picture are intriguing enough on their own. Thanks to Hamilton, there's been an increased interest in early American history in the last few years, especially unique takes on it like this one. That could help propel America: The Motion Picture to success, making it a win for Netflix.

In what is perhaps the most ambitious summer lineup yet from the streaming service, Netflix is clearly putting a lot into its slate of upcoming movies. Though it may not reach the level of Army of the Dead or The Woman in the Window, America: The Motion Picture’s star-studded cast all but guarantees it will be one of the streaming service’s biggest releases this summer.
