Fortnite Adds Guile And Cammy From Street Fighter

A new leak suggests that a couple of more Street Fighters are getting ready to join Fortnite as playable character skins. Epic’s massively popular multiplayer battle royale was visited by World Warriors Ryu and Chun-Li earlier this year, with the fighters training in their Hadokens and Spinning Bird Kicks for guns and dancing emotes.

Of course, guest characters are nothing new for Fortnite, which has seen crossovers featuring everything from video games to TV shows to even real-life celebrates like Travis Scott and Ariana Grande. Even unlikely gaming icons like Master Chief and Kratos have shown up for some battle royale action, and Fortnite’s tendency for crazy guest stars was even made the subject of a recent DC Comics miniseries that trapped Batman in a real-life match-up against GI Joe’s Snake-Eyes. The most recent Fortnite tie-in came in the form of DC’s new film The Suicide Squad, with Bloodsport actor Idris Elba announcing his character’s arrival on social media ahead of the Bloodsport skin being made available this week.

Fortnite isn’t stopping its run of guest characters anytime soon, at least not according to a recent Twitter post. This message reveals that two more Street Fighter characters are joining Fortnite's ever-growing roster of playable skins: the tough American soldier Guile and clone assassin-turned-British M16 operative Cammy. According to the attached announcement from Fortnite's website, players will also be able to purchase Guile’s Knuckle Buster Pickaxe, Cammy’s Delta Red Bowie Blade Pickaxe, and a V-Trigger Vector Glider pulled from Guile's old Street Fighter 2 stage as part of the Street Fighter Cammy and Guile Bundle - along with an alternate costume for each character.

Street Fighter’s roster has grown exponentially since Gulie and Cammy first appeared in the 90s, but the World Warriors featured in the Street Fighter 2 era entry are among the most well-known in the franchise. The Street Fighters have been in plenty of crossovers aside from Fortnite, most of which are thanks to developer Capcom’s VS. series and a crossover with the Tekken series in 2012’s Street Fighter X Tekken. A planned follow-up, titled Tekken X Street Fighter, has been in the works for quite some time but is currently said to be “on hold” - though that didn’t stop resident big bad Akuma from making a surprise appearance in 2017’s Tekken 7.

Guile and Cammy are among the most recognizable combatants in the Street Fighter franchise, so it would make sense that they would be the next pair of guest characters to come to Fortnite. Fans can purchase the Street Fighter Cammy and Guile Bundle from the Epic Games store starting on August 3.
