Fortnite's Ariana Grande Concert Teases Return of Kevin the Cube

Kevin the Cube might be making a return in Fortnite. The recent Ariana Grande concert featured footage of Kevin during a montage. However, the cube was in a new location, hinting at a comeback.

Kevin the Cube first appeared in Fortnite on August 24th, 2018. Although the Cube was not named when it first appeared, fans ended up giving it the nickname "Kevin", which was later added into the game. The Cube could be found near Paradise Palms when it first arrived. It soon began moving, though, traveling to Loot Lake and dissolving in the water. It even destroyed part of Tilted Towers along the way, with the "Butterfly" event on November 4th, 2018 showcasing Kevin's supposed destruction. Cameos and other references to Kevin have been spotted throughout Season 2.

According to PCGamesN, Kevin appeared in a montage during the Ariana Grande Rift Tour event. Players were flown through scenes from Fortnite's past during the Rift Tour. This included Kevin. However, some observant players - such as Ali-A, seen below - noticed that Kevin was in a new location. This seems to indicate that the Cube will be returning in a future season. The most logical time for Kevin's return is the upcoming Season 8. Leaks had previously mentioned Kevin and the Ariana Grande crossover. While the leaks seemed somewhat dubious at the time, the cameo may be enough to cement the return as fact. No one will know for certain until a proper reveal.

What is also unknown is how Kevin could be included in Season 8. The current season is operating with an aliens theme, with crossovers with media like Rick and Morty. PCGamesN wrote that leaks seem to indicate a September 13th launch for Season 8 and may include a crossover with the popular manga/anime franchise Naruto. Perhaps the Cube will be responsible for bringing the heroes from Konohagakure over.

Kevin the Cube is directly (and indirectly) responsible for many of the changes Fortnite has seen over the years. Its presence signaled the end of the "Crack in the Sky" event, for instance. If Kevin truly is scheduled to return, then it could mean major lore revelations are in the future. But it's possible it was nothing more than a small reference during a montage. The new location could just be an Easter egg or a mistake. There's no way to know for certain. But if the leaks are true, then Fortnite could be in for a major shakeup. There are worse places for major foreshadowing than an Ariana Grande concert, after all.
