Minecraft Player Discovers A Way To Create Broken Glass In Survival

A genius Minecraft player discovered how to create broken glass in survival mode without using plugins, cheats, or glitches. The strategy allows players to transform one of the fundamental building blocks in Minecraft without having to jump into Creative mode.

Glass is a decorative block with a transparent quality that can be used to spice up huts, homes, or any other player-made structure in the game. The block also has tactical applications as well, such as in mob grinders or other farms. The issue with glass is that upon breaking it, nothing is dropped (except if broken with a silk touch tool). However, one player figured out how to create the appearance of broken glass to spice up the traditional look. There are many different forms the glass block comes in. Players can access the normal, see-through glass block or any of its stained designs. Stained glass can be made by placing eight blocks of glass in a crafting table surrounding the player’s dye of choice. There is also a tinted glass block that blocks light while still being visually transparent, which was added in the recent Caves & Cliffs update to Minecraft. This makes mob grinders even more efficient without a player losing the ability to see inside. Tinted glass blocks are crafted by combining four amethyst shards and one glass block. Still, broken glass blocks weren’t obtainable in Minecraft, until now.

The answer was posted by Reddit user benjitoburrito, who claimed they used glow lichen to make a glass block appear like it was shattered or broken, even in a Survival world. The glow lichen can be placed on all sides of the glass, giving it a broken appearance. Glow lichen naturally spawns on various blocks in Minecraft, such as stone, andesite, diorite, granite, calcite, tuff, deep slate, and underground dripstone. Players must use shears to collect the glow lichen.

While there aren’t practical applications of broken glass in Minecraft, the block’s appearance can spice up many different structures, such as dungeons, castles, or ships. The block is especially useful in designing buildings that may have sustained heavy attacks, giving it a damaged look. There are endless possibilities for broken glass in Minecraft, especially when players have the freedom of placing the block anywhere they want. As long as they have enough glow lichen to go around.

The ingenuity of Minecraft players never stops improving. With the release of glow lichen and other new entities in Minecraft’s Caves and Cliffs Update, players are bound to discover fresh new strategies in expanding their world and finding new possibilities within the game.
