After a highly criticized livestream to unveil the game's upcoming 2.1 update, Genshin Impact voice actor Zach Aguilar has spoken out about his frustration with fans. The action role-playing game, developed by miHoYo, is rapidly approaching its one-year anniversary of release. Unfortunately, many fans are also angry about Genshin Impact's anniversary rewards which were recently revealed by miHoYo.

Genshin Impact's 2.1 update is set to launch on September 1, and the upcoming release will add a plethora of new content to the popular action RPG. The update will include four new playable characters who will be available throughout the update, with the new Electro characters Kujou Sara and Baal being available right on September 1. Two additional islands will be added to the tropical region of Inazuma, giving players even more room to explore. Five new in-game events are forthcoming, including the lunar Moonchase Merriment event, alongside three new bosses for players to face. A Genshin Impact 2.1 livestream, featuring several of the game's developers and voice actors, was held on August 20 to pull back the curtain on the upcoming update.

Unfortunately, many Genshin Impact fans were unhappy with the 2.1 reveal livestream, and voice actor Zach Aguilar has vented his frustrations on Twitter. Many viewers of the August 20 event were critical of the livestream, claiming that it was corny and seemed as if the voice actors were reading from scripts. Aguilar's Twitter rant explains that voice actors are often in the public eye, but they usually aren't aware of behind-the-scenes game development. Aquilar also explains that he, like many voice actors, has suffered from similar abuse in the past. Aguilar voices the English player character Aether in Genshin Impact and has appeared in other prominent roles such as Nier: Replicant and NEO: The World Ends With You.

While Genshin Impact is known for its original and well-written characters, a special guest will soon enter the title's fantastical role-playing setting. Horizon Zero Dawn's Aloy will join Genshin Impact as a special guest, available exclusively to PlayStation users. Aloy's abilities all serve as references to Horizon Zero Dawn, such as tossing Power Cells or wielding a powerful bow and arrow. Aloy will be made available when the 2.1 update launches on September 1, allowing gamers to acquire the machine-hunting warrior for themselves.

Genshin Impact fans have unfairly criticized the game's voice cast for participating in a fun promotional livestream. The actors showed excitement for the game's 2.1 update, while the fans responded with malice. Zach Aguilar's frustrations are therefore quite understandable, and hopefully, his explanation will trigger a change in the community's treatment of the game's creators.
