Yes, I use one most of the time. I generally switch providers and accounts up from time to time, as performance tends to fluctuate on the virtual machines/appliances. And support is generally pretty poor imo. A dedicated server is the way to go but sort of an expensive option for torrenting. Or a speedy NAS or private server at home with a FTTH connection. I have a connection at home that provides me with 300MB/s (essentially 2gig) of usable simultaneous up/down bandwidth and that works well enough. The ISP hasn't said anything yet so far.

I only download stuff I use to my seedbox. I used to aim towards getting my ratios up at first, but it just happens naturally now.
