Classical Music Tracker

Hi,

I am looking for a community of filesharers or torrenters with a passion for classical music, that has developed music tastes (and thus share variety) beyond the usual box collections of haydn mozart and beethoven. I am not picky about file formats (when downloading) and prefer people who have developed a collection out of taste in music (interest in Scandinavian composers, interest in obscure romantic composers etc.) rather then a kind of collectors mania and a fetish for recording quality.

My share:

3TBs Classical Music CD's (no vinyl rips) meticulously organized by composer (i was part of a strictly enforced labeling sharegroup) mostly lossless - flac and ape) When I upload myself i always use flac.

400GB Classical Chamber Music (half mp3 half lossless)

Extensive Collection of Mahler Recordings (i.e. 40 + versions of symphony 1)

Specializing in late romantic composers and obscure tonal/post tonal (not atonal) composers

I was wondering what experience people have had with file sharing communities or trackers that deal exclusively or have a extensive collection of classical music and to please share them with me. I also have resources of my own that I would like to share if you are interested in classical music filesharing.

Cheers,

Kundera

Hi,

I am also looking for a community of filesharers or torrenters with a passion for classical musis.

My share:

6TBs Classical Music CD's (80% no LP rips) organized by composer , 80% flac and ape.

When I upload myself i always use flac.

Specializing in XIX-XX composers

I also have resources of my own that I would like to share if you are interested in classical music filesharing.

I have shared, for example, in DEMONOID Lossless section this complet collection named "20th Century Opera project voll.1-66".

After the Demonid's dead, I am also looking for a serious classical tracker

Cheers,

millepiani

hello,

There is a 20th century flac collection on the Oneswarm network. It is a good example that shows how Oneswarm is better then private tracker because it gives REAL privacy and without having to scurry around after some private classical trackers which hasn't been shut down yet. :)

If you don't know Oneswarm is a filesharing protocol that is backwards compatible with Bittorrent. It runs on Windows, OSX and linux. While the interface isn't perfect Oneswarm has one feature that none of the private trackers have: privacy. It is open source and developed by Univeristy of Washington professors. Learn about it here:

www.oneswarm.org

There is now a small collection of 20th century box sets and scores on Oneswarm- it is about 80gigs- and it works ok right now. The download speeds is not still as fast as normal Bittorrent because there aren't so many seeds but that is getting better because the collection is spreading. If you subscribe to the community server you don't have to worry so much about ratios because you are always relaying data for others too. Also Oneswarm allow to build your own darknet with friends. When you combine these it become very hard to take down the network or spy on users.

A description of the 20th collection is on Tor at:

http://vt27twhtksyvjrky.onion/

Or you can see it on normal web with tor2web.org:

https://vt27twhtksyvjrky.tor2web.org/

I will seed any 20th century composer box sets to our collection and try to get them into the official collection. This collection is only flacs but if you make it available in another lossless format I will convert it. The tags standard is listed on the site. I will also seed anything else from 20th century.

If we can combine our recordings and make them available on decentralized network like Oneswarm then it is resistant to the kind of attacks that took down Demonoid. I hope some of you can participate. It would be great to have that 20th century opera project in the collection!

ciao,

quivira

I used to get most of my classical music from demonoid - which had an impressive collection. Let's hope it comes back online soon.
