Obi-Wan Kenobi star Bonnie Piesse recalls her debut scene in the Star Wars universe, which was unfortunately cut from the theatrical release of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Piesse reprises her role as Aunt Beru Whitesun Lars in the upcoming Star Wars series, which follows Ewan McGregor as the titular hero living in exile on the desert planet Tatooine following the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Set 10 years after the fall of the old Republic, the Jedi Master must protect a young Luke Skywalker, who is now being raised by Uncle Owen (Joel Edgerton) and Aunt Beru.

Piesse joined Star Wars in 2002 as a teenager with Attack of the Clones. Although she appeared in a few scenes with Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman), Piesse only had one word of dialogue in the film. She simply said "Hello" after Beru was introduced to Anakin and Padmé by Owen at the Lars Homestead. The actor returned to the role in Revenge of the Sith, the final film in the prequel trilogy. However, Piesse had no lines of dialogue within the entirety of the film.

ComicBook.com caught up with Piesse to discuss her role in the highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series, as well as to look back on what Star Wars meant to a young actor out of Australia. Piesse has fond memories of working with Star Wars creator George Lucas, calling him "super easygoing." The actor also remembers her very first Attack of the Clones scene, which was unfortunately removed from the final film. Read how Piesse recalls the moment:

But actually, my first scene in Episode II was a scene that they cut in the end. It was a big dialogue scene with Natalie Portman on Tatooine, in the Lars homestead kitchen. And they actually threw that at me... I think it was the night before, and suddenly there's a script. It's like, "Oh, my gosh." And I'm Australian, so I had to wrangle the American accent for that. In the end, I never got to see that scene, so I hope that I get to see that one day. It was really fun.

Piesse's first Star Wars scene would have occurred following Anakin's return to the Lars Homestead after he had killed the Tusken Raiders and retrieved his mother's dead body. Early drafts of the Attack of the Clones script had Beru and Padmé share a brief moment in the kitchen while the former Queen prepared food for Anakin. The two discussed Padmé's home world of Naboo, which featured a vastly different climate to that of Tatooine. Although the scene was small, it would have given Piesse a chance to make the character her own and give Beru a personality that was absent in the final film.

Receiving new pages of a dialogue-heavy scene is rough enough, but to learn the scene and then perform it against one of the leads of the film to only have it left on the cutting room floor must have been heartbreaking for Piesse. However, the actor appears to truly cherish those moments of her past, even if her scene never reached the big screen. Whether Piesse has a more substantial role in Obi-Wan Kenobi remains to be seen, but the upcoming show's premise deals with the protection of Luke Skywalker, which should offer her a larger presence in the narrative. Only time will tell if the actor will finally get her moment to shine when Obi-Wan Kenobi lands on Disney+ May 27.
