A Teen Wolf: The Movie star has revealed just how much of an influence Hugh Jackman's Wolverine has been on him. Teen Wolf: The Movie, a Paramount+ film set to provide the equivalent of a Teen Wolf season 7, centers around Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and takes place a decade after the hit MTV show ended. The film will explore the relationship between Scott and his pack after Beacon Hills discovers the existence of supernatural creatures. With dead friends coming back to life, the mysteries in the sleepy town have only been increasing.

Yet Dylan Sprayberry, who plays Scott's first Bite victim Liam Dunbar, has had to look beyond Beacon Hills to find inspiration for his character. As a character actor returning for Teen Wolf: The Movie years after the show ended, he decided to look to Jackman's Wolverine in order to see how to play both a man and an animal at once. In an interview with SFX Magazine, Sprayberry revealed how behind-the-scenes footage of Jackman prepared him to take on the role of a monstrous supernatural man. Check out his quote below, as transcribed by CBR.

How Hugh Jackman Prepares To Play Wolverine

As Sprayberry discovered while filming Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf: The Movie, it isn't exactly easy to play a character like Liam or Wolverine. Even setting aside the mental pressure of the expectations that can come with being an actor in such a demanding role, an animalistic character typically needs serious physical training. Jackman has shared his training pictures after his Deadpool 3 role was announced, and the process is intense. Over the two decades that Jackman has spent as Wolverine, every subsequent movie expected him to increase his exercise and to put on more muscle. By Logan, even the old and disheveled version of Wolverine needed a considerable amount of strength.

While Teen Wolf: The Movie may not require quite as much athletic participation as a blockbuster movie like The Wolverine or X-Men: Days of Future Past, even a fraction of Jackman's work ethic would be intense. Chris Hemsworth has complained about Thor appearance expectations, which typically involves getting extremely ripped to prepare for the role. Since Jackman needs to be just as strong to play the muscle-laden Wolverine, each appearance requires months of physical training that culminates in what may be a 10-second shirtless scene that involves severe dehydration just to make the muscles stand out.

What Will Wolverine Look Like In The MCU?

With Wolverine set to appear in Deadpool 3, it remains to be seen what the character will look like going forward. Given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently in the midst of a massive multiversal crisis, Logan's next appearance may be that of a variant of whichever Wolverine exists in the MCU. With Deadpool 3 merging the Fox universe with the MCU, a common theory is that the story of Deadpool 3 will be the death of the Fox X-Men. If so, Wolverine is expected to survive, given that this version of Wolverine is being taken from earlier in Logan's timeline. Unfortunately, there is no way to know if he will be remaining in the MCU. Regardless of the outcome, Jackman's MCU will continue to provide inspiration for Sprayberry even after Teen Wolf: The Movie airs.
