The Mortal Kombat sequel has also found its Sindel, King Jerrod, and Quan Chi.

New cast members have been revealed for the upcoming sequel Mortal Kombat 2. Serving as a follow-up to the 2021 feature film adaptation of Mortal Kombat, the new movie will bring back a handful of returning characters while introducing several new fighters into the mix. Recent weeks have revealed the additions of various new cast members including Karl Urban (The Boys) as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Kitana, and Tati Gabrielle (You) as Jade.

Now, a new report from Deadline has divulged some additional casting information revealing some other new characters that will be featured in the film. As with the aforementioned additions, they are all based on characters previously featured in the video game series. This includes Shao Kahn, who was the final opponent in the original video game Mortal Kombat II and has since remained one of the franchise's most well-known characters. He'll be played by British bodybuilder and actor Martyn Ford, whose other on-screen credits include the films F9 and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, as well as the TV shows The Sandman and The Nevers.

"PINCH ME," Ford posted on Instagram along with an image of himself on a studio lot, presumably in response to his casting as Shao Kahn in the movie.

Three other new cast members have also been revealed. This includes Desmond Chiam (Joy Ride) as Edenian King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen (Suka) as Queen Sindel, and Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) as Quan Chi. They'll be joining the above newcomers as well as returning cast members including Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.

Chiam, who previously appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and is next set to appear in Lionsgate's upcoming comedy Joy Ride, can also be seen in the Prime Video series With Love. Nguyen stars in the Aussie action movie Suka after appearing in the films Get Free and The Spy Who Never Dies. Herriman can be recognized for playing Charles Manson in both Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the Netflix series Mindhunter. He also recently appeared in the shows The Artful Dodger and Thai Cave Rescue.

Simon McQuoid, who helmed the first movie, is back in the director's chair for Mortal Kombat 2. The screenplay comes from Jeremy Slater. James Wan and Micahel Clear are producing for Atomic Monster alongside Broken Road Productions' McQuoid, Todd Garner, and E. Bennett Walsh.

Mortal Kombat 2 will start filming this summer. A release date has not yet been announced. If you want to revisit the first movie ahead of the second film's arrival, you can find it streaming on Max.
