i wonder if someone can help me, i downloaded "Microsoft.Windows.7.ULTIMATE.x86.Integrated.February.2010.OEM.DVD-BIE" and im having trouble getting it to boot. it just sticks on the loading screen. i've tried doing an upgrade from vista .. no luck ... tried a custom install ... no luck even formatted my machine to a basic xp home and then tried a custom ... still no luck.

i try and boot from disc and i just get a blank screen. ive done the windows 7 upgrade advisor and its says my pc is fine, i've checked the spec list for it and my pc easily meets the requirements.

any ideas?

thanks for your help and time.

Most like it wasn't burned properly, or the boot.ini file is screwed up...I would download another copy, and do a fresh burn

Use the verify feature to make sure the error isn't from when you burn it.

Im guessing there some faulty in your dvd drive, or you bios isn't checking it properly, never had a situation like this...But the best thing you can do right now is use a removable disk (flash drive)... should work like a charm, extract the files into the flash disk and in boot options, boot from removable disk...One more thing how many drives do you have?, and were you able to boot from this disk using the current config on your system ( meaning same # of drives)...

Windows 7 OEM branded versions can be a little tricky to say the least. If you have already tried booting it from your BIOS and know for sure that the burning process went okay, then Im affraid you will just have to download it again from a different source. These kinda things happen sometime. Its probably a faulty version.

cheers i'll try the removable disk and see how i get on there.

i have 1 400GB drive, the discs boots and says loading file and then just gives me a blank screen. when i tried the custom install it seemed like it worked but then reboots as if its about to load windows for the setup gets to the screen (i dont get a screen asking for a activation key or anything) where it says starting windows and then just stays like that. i left it over an hour and now change. i'm still able to boot up my old xp install.

i think something must be wrong as i have a vista disc that basically the same i just install it and no need for activation or anything worked like a charm before then tried it t go back while i sort this out and no luck try and install it and i just keep getting the blue screen of death.

i'll see if i get anywhere with the removable disc and get back to you.

thanks for your time and help

Hey Ajk,

if you see my last post there is a .xip file, in there is a belarc report on my pc. if this is no good, i dont have any documentation anymore on what its inside and like i said its been awhile since i bought it, so any recommendations to the best way to find it all out?

i've run the win 7 upgrade advisor and thats saying i can run either x32 or x64 bit win 7. to say its an old pc its not bad for its age i think.

cheers

Ideally you need to prove the DVD actually boots. If you can get access to a machine running Vista you would think it is capable of booting a windows 7 disc, so if you can't get the DVD you have to boot on it, then it is obviously a bad disc / iso.

So in summary, you don't need to install it on another machine, just test that it boots.

Edit: forgot to add, your specs look fine, I'm running it on an older Athlon XP machine with no SATA ports and it works fine.

yea it boots as i have a partition on my hdd and i got xp hme edition on 1 and xp pro on the other, which i've done since the win 7 issue. i have a feb 2008 verision of vista thats booting the files but then goes to a blue screen, where as i had this installed on my machine b4 i tried win 7 so i know it should work.

im borrowing a copy that someone has already installed on there machine with no issues so ill give that a bash and get back to u.

also i just wanted to say thanks for everyones help so far its much appreciated

I've done that and still no good, i know there no issue with booting from disc as xp home and pro boot fine, and so does 7 but as soon as it gets to starting windows, it goes no further. I've tried a working disc and still no luck. I've even taken out my hdd and put another in and tried installing it on that no good.

could it be my bios? and would you recommend flashing it?
