There is no official download release date

my guess : second part of 2010

You're wrong. The OS is available, although it's still in an early alpha - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome_OS

Also please do not compare it to Windows 7, because Chrome OS is meant for netbooks only. Not for desktops, not even for notebooks. Netbooks. Get your facts right.

I love trying out new OS's but i don't think a lot of applications will be programmed to run on google OS

You will be able to do basic stuff like watching movies, listening to music, editing pictures, etc. But keep in mind it's essentially just a browser. For netbooks.

For more information watch this presentation, I really liked it:

Hmm, I think google is trying to take over anything on the computer, first The search enigne, Gmail, Google Wave, and now Google os, What seams to be the next great thing. Google now knows everything about one another. :) But lets what it comes with. Great mind, Great future :)

Guys, it's not very good. Coz google already tracking down all users web information with it's Chrome (anonym packets sending to google and most people doesnt knew it).

So, when this OS will be released - it will be just another BIG way of controlling the people's anonymousness. I'm sure, that this OS will send ALL information about you to google. Includes the Full list of soft and processes, that you running, includes licensing info of some software, it may even disable Dasm-soft or cracked partner's of google soft, on the core level. All the infos of what sites do you enter, what data do you transfer (all data, even through local network), it may block all the sites and soft that google thinks is "not acceptable". So, it's another way of controlling the information community. It's much stronger than MS controlling... And google one day will just buy MS.

We better not to use this OS, if we need to be at least a Little anonymouse. I wish all users to use Win XP (it has more anonymation than others) or if you are experienced user - use full anonymouse Unix-based systems.

P.S. btw, no one knows, but that.. "Chrome" - is the fastest in Net just because it uses google.cache system and couple of other google's services.

I did not like ... Without doubt I prefer Win7 or WinXP or Linux

same for me, i used it on my dell mini for a few days and was not impressed. i am hoping that google will implement some soft of cloud based storage (not google docs) with the launch because that is what i have been waiting for.
