In light of the just-announced acquisition of the VR company Oculus by Facebook, Markus "Notch" Persson announced that he no longer plans on bringing Minecraft to the Oculus Rift. Persson is the head of Minecraft development studio Mojang.
The surprise announcement of Facebook's purchase came by way of a Facebook post from Mark Zuckerberg earlier today. We'll be following this developing story closely to learn what it means means for the future of Oculus.
A shareable beta version of Minecraft for the Rift is still available on the Oculus website, though it's been renamed "Minecrift."
