Chance the Rapper's Acid Rap was easily one of the best projects of 2013 — yes, that's counting both mixtapes and albums — so demand for new material from the Chicago rapper is only increasing. There's an official album from Chance somewhere on the horizon, but there's been no shortage of music from him in the meantime.
In the past few months, his features have run the gamut, from a verse on Justin Bieber's "Confident," to Skrillex's "Coast is Clear" and SZA's "Child's Play." There have also been a few live teasers, like the untitled track he performed featuring Jeremih, and then some raw solo releases like "Home Studio."
Check out a list of every Chance the Rapper song or collaboration that debuted in 2014 (so far).
Chance the Rapper -- "Unknown"
The details here are slim to none, but it still deserved to be included. Chance made a visit to Al Lindstrom's Toca Tuesdays show on Shade 45 this week, where he previewed a brand new track. He didn't say where it would end up, or who might be featured on it...but, doesn't that voice sound strangely like J.Cole on the ad-libs? No confirmation of course, just a theory for now.
Chance the Rapper and The Social Experiment -- "Home Studio (Back Up In This Bitch)"
If you're familiar with Acid Rap, it's obvious that Chance masters the wacky voices and off-the-wall flows, but his most recent solo release is even more freewheeling. The song was recorded in his home studio (obviously) with instrumentals from his band the Social Experiment, and he really lets loose on this one. Or, as he likes to say, "I'm just having fun with it."
SZA feat. Chance the Rapper - "Child's Play"
Top Dawg Entertainment's first lady, SZA, released the latest single from her upcoming album Z last week. The soulful number is produced by XXYYXX & Dae One and Chance doesn't have any trouble finding his pace over the slowed-down tempo.
Skrillex feat. Chance the Rapper - "Coast is Clear"
Skrillex initially previewed this collaboration during a Brooklyn show in February, but the full version arrived when he offered up his Recess album for streaming earlier this month. In contrast to SZA's slowed-down tempo, things get a little more frenzied when the EDM producer gets involved.
Pia Mia feat. Chance the Rapper -- "Fight For You" ("Divergent" soundtrack)
The "Divergent" soundtrack featured a handful of rappers including Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, and Chance who appeared on Pia Mia's pop cut "Fight For You," produced by Clams Casino. There's nothing hip-hop about this track, but as usual Chance nails down a complementary flow.
Chance the Rapper and James Blake -"Save Yourself First" Chance and the UK singer/producer found themselves a house out in Los Angeles where they've been recording for the past few months, so hopefully there will be new music soon. We first heard them together on the "Life Round Here (remix)," and last month Chance shared an unreleased verse from one of their first sessions, tweeting, "This was the og idea for me and james' first collaboration. James never liked this."
Chuck Inglish feat. Chance the Rapper -- "Glam"
Chug Inglish is rolling out his solo debut Convertibles on April 8, and he tapped Chance for a verse on one of his lead singles "Glam." The smooth melody, with those blaring horns in the background, sounds like something you might hear on one of Chance's own projects, and he adds a mix of singing and rapping to tie it up neatly.
Mapei feat. Chance & The Social Experiment -- "Don't Wait (Remix)"
If you're not familiar with American-born, Sweden-bred artist, Mapei, then her soulful voice on this track is probably a good introduction. The rapper-turned-singer, made a great decision to include Chance on the remix of her popular track, kicking things up a notch.
Bonus: 9-Minute Freestyle With Childish Gambino
Chance appeared on Gambino's recent album, Because the Internet, on the track "The Worst Guys," but on March 20 they tag-teamed a 9-minute freestyle during a packed show in Chicago. Check it out below, and stay tuned for more updates.
