Lindsay Lohan Was Almost in 'The Avengers,' But as Whom?

Did Lindsay Lohan almost have a starring role in "Marvel's The Avengers?" If the actress is to be believed, she was passed over for an "unknown;" but for what role?
This week on her OWN show "Lindsay" the actress told her coach A.J. that she wanted a role in "The Avengers," but because her manager didn't push an "unknown" was cast instead.
"If I don't work in a film, he passes it to Vanessa Hudgens; he passes it one of his other clients," Lohan said. "Every day I'm not on a film set, I'm wasting my talent because that's what I was born, and live, to do."
The curious part about this is there aren't a whole lot of "unknowns" or female parts in general in "The Avengers." You've got Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, who could neither be considered an unknown, nor debuted in the film. The same could be said for Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, who previously appeared in two "Iron Man" films. And is also Gwyneth Paltrow.
The only major female role that premiered in "Avengers" was Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) second in command, Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders. Smulders is well known to the public as a cast-member on "How I Met Your Mother," and even appeared on screen in "Safe Haven" in 2013. But she's nowhere near the level of Johansson or Paltrow, and may not have surfaced on Lohan's radar.
Of all the possibilities — we're pretty sure Lohan wasn't gunning for Tina Benko's role as "NASA Scientist" — Maria Hill is therefore the most likely suspect.
That leads to an interesting case of "what if." In 2012, Lohan was in the midst of her most recent attempt to recapture her glory days, guest-starring on "Glee," and starring in the anticipated TV movie "Liz & Dick."
If Lohan had nabbed the role of Hill in the extremely successful "Avengers," she would have been guaranteed several more high profile roles in the future, including the upcoming "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
Additionally, unlike Smulders — who is tied up with the final season of "HIMYM" — Lohan potentially would have been free to bring Hill to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." full time, which would have radically changed that show, too.
In fact, post "Liz & Dick" Lohan's career once again hit the skids. With one role, her life could have radically changed for the better.
But, you know, it didn't.
This is all idle speculation, of course. It's possible that Lohan wasn't up for Maria Hill at all, or even any part in "Avengers." It could have been an agent or manager paying lip service to the actress, or a staged piece of dialogue for her reality show.
Somewhere out there, though, there's a parallel universe where Lohan is sparring with Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson on a weekly basis.
What do you think? Would Lohan have made a good addition to "The Avengers?"
