‘Terminator: Genesis’ Cast Grows with Three New Additions

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from watching the Terminator movies, it’s that the future is a dangerous place. Luckily there are still three long movies left in which to save it, as Skydance Productions is kicking off a brand new Terminator trilogy in 2015 with Terminator: Genesis, starring Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger as (one version of) the persistent T-800.

Terminator: Genesis has been steadily gathering new cast members as it approaches production, with the most recent major announcement being Dayo Okeniyi (The Hunger Games) as Danny Dyson, the grown-up son of Mike Dyson from Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Since time travel will reportedly continue to be a central element of the new trilogy, both young and old versions of existing characters could show up in Terminator: Genesis.

Now THR reports that three new actors have joined the cast of the sci-fi thriller, including well-known South Korean action star Byung-hun Lee (RED 2). Mad Men actor Michael Gladis and House of Cards‘ Sandrine Holt have also joined Lee and previously announced stars like J.K. Simmons in Terminator: Genesis‘ pool of supporting players, but there’s no official word yet as to which characters these three actors will be playing.

With a John Connor who’s older than his mother (at least, going by the ages of the actors) and multiple versions of the T-800 in the mix, Terminator: Genesis promises to play with the franchise’s apocalyptic timeline as a small group of humans work to prevent artificial intelligence from consuming the planet.

Lee in particular is best known for playing stoic but powerful characters, so it’s easy to imagine him playing a malevolent robot along the same lines as Robert Patrick and Kristanna Loken’s characters. THR says that his part “promises to be a doozy,” though whether that’s pure speculation or based on current buzz is unclear.
