BitTorrent Names Three New Executive Appointments

Ro Choy appointed Chief Operating Officer, Matt Mason appointed Chief Content Officer, and Jascha Kaykas-Wolff joins as Chief Marketing Officer.

2014 is off to a fast start here at BitTorrent, Inc.

Momentum for BitTorrent Sync continues to build, as the app expands to new platforms. BitTorrent Bundle is proving to be a valuable tool for the creative community. And projects in our Labs, such as BitTorrent Chat and the first application of BitTorrent Live, guarantee that we will have a lot more to talk about in the coming months.

We are dedicated to hardcoding the sustainable web and our vision has never been sharper: preserving the open exchange of information, ensuring respect for user privacy, empowering digital innovation, and the development of new business models.

To help drive this mission, we’re announcing new appointments to our executive team.

Chief Operating Officer, Ro Choy

Ro joined the BitTorrent executive team in May of 2012. He’s been a powerhouse in developing our revenue opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and overseeing BitTorrent’s advertising teams, most recently as Chief Revenue Officer. In his new role, Ro will lead all business and operations related efforts for BitTorrent, including sales, advertising, finance, HR, corp dev and business development.

Chief Content Officer, Matt Mason

Matt joined BitTorrent in November of 2011 with a lofty mission: reintroduce BitTorrent to the world while reclaiming the brand. Since that time, Matt has established a center of excellence within the company, bringing in top talent for product marketing, brand, creative, and communications. All the while being an inspirational leader and voice for the company, most recently as Vice President of Marketing. In his new role, Matt will continue to work with the content industry, an effort that to date has motivated over 10,000 content creators and rights holders to sign up to work with BitTorrent. Recent partnerships have included De La Soul, and the Oscar nominated documentary The Act of Killing.

Chief Marketing Officer, Jascha Kaykas-Wolff

Jascha joins BitTorrent from Mindjet, where he served as Chief Marketing Officer. An accomplished executive with experience at Microsoft and Yahoo!, Jascha helped define the agile marketing manifesto and was a pioneer in social media marketing analytics as an industry. Jascha’s experience in establishing new categories on behalf of companies like Webtrends (Customer Intelligence & Optimization), Involver (Social Media Marketing Platforms) and Mindjet (Work Management) will serve BitTorrent well as we continue to develop a portfolio of products targeting consumer and enterprise markets.

In addition to building out our C-suite, we also welcome Dipak Joshi as our Vice President of Finance. Dipak joins BitTorrent from Fuze Box where he served in the finance function since 2010. Prior to Fuze, Dipak held positions with Google (2006-2010) and eBay (2003-2006).

Dipak joins Erik Pounds on our executive team, who we recently announced as Vice President of Product Management for BitTorrent Sync.
