For the new video for their new single "Room to Breathe," it turns out You Me at Six actually has plenty of space to get in some deep breaths -- try a wide-open arena, for instance.
The U.K. alt-rock act shot footage for "Room to Breathe" across 48 shows around the world, and Billboard has the exclusive premiere of the new video. Shot completely in black and white, the video features the group onstage and off it, paired with images of the crowd reflecting in the silhouettes of closeups of the band members themselves.
The result plays almost like a dual shot of the band performing the tune from their new album "Cavalier Youth" and the band's fans reacting to its performance.
"’Room To Breathe’ was the first song written for 'Cavalier Youth' back in 2012," frontman Josh Franceschi says of the song. "We instantly loved it because it felt very anthemic. Lyrically it's a song about feeling lost in your own skin. The song was written at a confusing time, and I felt we/I just needed a fresh start musically. New people entered my life around that time and changed my whole perspective on music and reignited my love for it."
The Tom Welsh-directed video tops out at around three-and-a-half minutes.
The band is about to embark on a U.S. tour, kicking off April 23 in West Hollywood. "We love touring America," Franceschi says. "We discover something new every time -- not only about the States, fans of our music, but also ourselves. Touring America is a lot of fun."
"Cavalier Youth" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart upon its release. It's the band's fourth LP in all, the first being 2008's "Take Off Your Colours."
