Team DIMENSION Returns to The Piracy Scene

The popular TV Scene group DIMENSION reappeared this week, after a hiatus of nearly two months. The group is a household name among many pirates, who are welcoming the new releases. Although there's no official explanation for the stretch of absence, a recent Scene notice suggests that there were internal struggles.

In April, one of the best known TV Scene groups suddenly disappeared.

DIMENSION has been a high profile name for over a decade, both in the Scene and on torrent sites, good for tens of thousands of TV-show releases.

Nearly two months had passed since the sudden disappearance and most followers had already said their virtual goodbyes. Out of nowhere, however, several new DIMENSION releases began popping up this week.

It started with a Gotham episode on Tuesday, followed by Angie Tribeca and Pretty Little Liars. The sudden reapparance came without a public explanation, but it’s pretty clear that the group is back in full swing.

The question remains why the group was absent for so long and if the old crew is intact. A recent Scene notice suggests that this is not the case.

In a notice titled “Farewell.To.Team-DIMENSION,” which surfaced last month, a senior team member publicly announced his retirement, attributing it to issues with the group’s leadership.

“I as a senior member will no longer sit idle and see the good name of Team DIMENSION being tainted the way it currently is and be part of it. And now with a lot of mixed feelings I announce my official retirement from Team DIMENSION.”

The member in question felt that the group’s reputation was being damaged by the leadership, which among other things, teamed up with other groups without informing all members.

The claims are not verified but it’s clear that DIMENSION suffered some internal struggles.

“I sincerely hope the team will be back stronger and united, and with leadership that will keep the entire group in mind,” the notice reads, further suggesting that the founder is no longer active either.

“To the founder, do enjoy your retirement! I have had a lot of fun since Sun, 28 Aug 2011 when we first got to know each other. And best wishes on your ventures outside the scene.”

Fast forward a few weeks and DIMENSION is back in action. TorrentFreak spoke to a source who says that the leader and several top members are no longer with the group, as the notice also suggests.

Still, the “new” team is picking up where the “old” team left with new TV-releases coming out on a regular basis.

And while reputation is key in the Scene, the average downloader probably can’t be bothered by internal troubles and politics. They just want their TV fix.
