I have this friend who prefers how the game looks visually over the actual game play. He refuses to play games that were made before 2007 because the graphics of those games aren't up to his standards. This means he wont play games like the original half-life. So my question is, what do you prefer? Amazing game play or stunning visuals?

A bit of a non-sequencer really. As Gamers we focus on the gameplay pretty environments and textures are secondary. It’s one of the reasons why minecraft is such a massive hit and why the wii is such an amazing gaming platform.

I buy pc games to be entertained in an engaging storyline with engrossing game mechanics, not to watch a pretty slide show of events like a movie.

Games for me have to have substance, sadly today's offerings are over in around 5-7 hours. (MW-2 anyone)

I like both. It's hard to pick between the two but I would have to say graphics. I like games that don't have all that great of graphics but those are back in the day games like Super Mario Bros. and games like that. But I'm modern age. If it's year 2011 i'm in that year. Not back 20 years ago or so. I had a friend I was talking to last night telling me I needed to get a X-Box 360 so we could play online. But of course I told him that I would have to go with the PS3 for the simple fact that X-Box 360 has a cartoonish looking graphics as the PS3 graphics look very realistic. Not always but chances are if they put that much effort out to make the graphics look that good chances are they put out the effort to make the gameplay really good as well. Like I said not always but most likely.
