The Rock Responded To A Fan Complaining About Jumanji In The Best Way

Recommended Posts

Word to the wise, if you are going to @ a celebrity with a massive social media following on Twitter to complain about something, you better come correct. Because if you don't, when you get dragged, the whole world is going to hear about it. Such is where we find ourselves today after some cavalier fan made the ill-advised decision to complain about Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Needless to say, it did not go well for him.

Yikes! It clearly doesn't matter what you think, James. As is made abundantly clear by Dwayne Johnson's response, you can take that opinion, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and well... you know the rest. There is a reason The Rock is the social media maestro he is, because the great one is great at this and he suffers no fools. The fan's central complaint seems to be the fact that in a video game, after dying you would not re-spawn with an item you needed to win. Seriously, that's your complaint? Jumanji is a movie about a magical video game that sucks players into its world, but that's where you draw the line? A fictional video game isn't adhering to traditional real world video game design, and that qualifies as "bullshit"? The Rock has none of this and cites the Jumanji Lore Handbook in his Twitter response, completely refuting the fan's point. What a treasure this guy is. Let this be a lesson to anyone who wants to complain when Rampage hits that wolves can't really fly.

The other really funny part of this whole interaction is that the fan feels the need to curse the film in all caps so you know he means it, object to what he perceives to be an inaccuracy as "bullshit," and then proceed to say that other than his one gripe, Jumanji was quite good. Why are you coming in so hostile if you basically liked the film? Such is the need to be overblown and hyperbolic on social media; you get the attention you desperately crave, but rarely come out looking good. I love that The Rock responds with 'my friend' and 'kindly' before tearing into him.

Clearly this fan does not speak for the majority, as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle continues to absolutely kill at the box office. Five weeks after it debuted, the loose sequel is still a force to be reckoned with, having won three straight weekends to start out the New Year. The film is a massive hit and sits behind only Furious 7 in terms of box office success of all The Rock's films. With that kind of success, you have to imagine the studio will look to make a sequel. The entire premise of both Jumanji films lends itself to an anthology-type franchise, so it will be interesting to see where things go from here and if the Rock remains on board.

Just remember, when you come at The Rock, you better bring it. You can check out our guide to see in what movies Dwayne Johnson will be electrifying cinema screens with next.
