Turner and Warner Bros. Digital Networks have struck a new pact that will bring classics like 'Casablanca' to the streaming service.

FilmStruck, the subscription streaming service operated by Time Warner’s Turner unit, is adding to its library of art house, indie and foreign films, by partnering with Warner Bros. Digital Networks to present classic Hollywood titles from the Warner Bros. film library.

The new pact will offer FilmStruck subscribers in the U.S. exclusive streaming access to hundreds of movies, including high-profile films like Casablanca, Rebel Without a Cause, Singin’ in the Rain, Citizen Kane, The Music Man, Bringing Up Baby, The Thin Man, Cat People, A Night at the Opera, An American in Paris, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

“FilmStruck offers movie lovers instant access to the greatest films from every genre and every decade — from Casablanca to Seven Samurai to This Is Spinal Tap,” Jennifer Dorian, general manager of FilmStruck and Turner Classic Movies, said. “Adding Hollywood classics into the service was a direct response to consumer demand and we’re thrilled to continue growing our award-winning film library while building the ultimate streaming movie service for serious film fans.”

Warner Archive will shut down its own digital streaming service, and its current subscribers will be given a FilmStruck subscription.

Additionally, FilmStruck will begin offering a new feature called TCM Select, presenting classic movies with introductions from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz, archival content and bonus material.

The service is also planning curated themes, offering classic Hollywood fare such as Rogers & Astaire: The Complete Collection, Neo-Noir and a Star of the Week theme featuring Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, and Ava Gardner, among others.

The new partnership follows a deal, announced in January, under which Turner International’s Digital Ventures & Innovation group and WBDN struck a joint venture to launch FilmStruck in international markets.

FilmStruck, which launched in the U.S. in November 2016, also offers exclusive streaming access to the art house oriented Criterion Collection, which moved from Hulu to FilmStruck that year.

FilmStruck offers three different pricing plans — a basic $6.99 per month plan, a $10.99 per month plan that includes the Criterion Channel and a $99 per year plan that includes both FilmStruck and the Criterion Channel.
