WP: Trump ordered to postpone the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions

MOSCOW, April 16 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. President of the United States Donald Trump on Monday decided to suspend the introduction of new economic sanctions against Russia, which the US permanent representative to the UN Nikki Haley said on Sunday, Washington Post reported citing sources.

"Trump consulted national security advisers on Sunday night and told them that he was upset that sanctions had been officially announced because he still does not feel confident about their introduction," the newspaper writes.

On Sunday, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said that the United States will announce new sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Syria on Monday. According to her, new Washington sanctions against Moscow will concern companies that supplied Syria with technologies that contributed to the production of chemical weapons.

In early April, the West accused Damascus of using chemical weapons in the Syrian city of Dumas. At the same time, the specialists of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties (CPAP) visited the site of the alleged incident and found no traces of toxins. In local hospitals, according to CPAP, there were no patients with symptoms characteristic of toxic agents.

Despite this, on the night of Saturday, the United States, Britain and France released over 100 missiles over the territory of the ATS, most of which were shot down by Syrian air defense systems. Three people suffered. The attacks were inflicted prior to the start of the OPCW mission, which will go to the Duma on 18 April.

Vladimir Putin called the military action "an act of aggression" against the people who are "at the forefront of the fight against terrorism."
