Video: Kevin Blatt Explains Celebrity Sex Tape Business to Vice

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Kevin Blatt, Hollywood’s go-to guy when it comes to releasing or obtaining a celebrity sex tape, discusses the fine art of his business in the latest episode of Vice Media’s “Famish.”

Blatt explains in a 10-minute video the specific details of brokering celebrity sex tapes, as well as how he became a sex tape guru.

“The culture of celebrity and fame in this town — it is a religion,” Blatt said. “Fame makes people do really awful things. And I help facilitate making stupid people famous. You want to put out a tape, I’m your guy; if you don’t want that tape out there, I’m your guy. Just tell me what side of the desk you want me to sit on today.”

Blatt was involved with SexBrat.com in 2003 when he was introduced to a sex tape featuring Hilton heiress Paris Hilton and her boyfriend, Rick Salomon. Salomon, as the story goes, didn’t have Hilton’s sign off for releasing the video, and that prompted legal filings, Blatt said.

But the video, “1 Night in Paris,” was finally released in 2004, and Blatt continued getting involved in sex scandals with A-list celebrities and was even an expert witness at the Hulk Hogan-Gawker trial.

“There’s a lot of questions and a lot of moving parts with these celebrity sex tapes that most people generally just don’t know,” Blatt said.

Through the years, he’s faced lawsuits from a number of celebrities — Cameron Diaz, Colin Farrell and Vern Troyer — over brokered sex tapes.

But that doesn’t faze him. He said he’s become familiar with all aspects of copyright infringement and how to distribute sex tapes legally.

Blatt revealed in the Vice program, which also includes appearances from brother Darren Blatt and fiancée Sarah Peachez, that he’s working on a new documentary about how “1 Night in Paris” came to fruition. The documentary will be titled, “Paris and Me.”
