The singer showcased a preview clip about the album during a show in Baku, Azerbaijan

Christina Aguilera has hinted that a new album titled ‘Liberation’ is on the way, after sharing a video interlude with fans during a show in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The singer performed in Baku on April 28 and you can watch a clip of the video interlude below.

A new album would be Aguilera’s first in six years – her last was 2012’s ‘Lotus’.

Recently, Aguilera opened up about her childhood of witnessing domestic violence and her thoughts on the evolution of sexual expression for young female artists.

The singer appeared in a stripped back photoshoot for the ‘Transformation’ issue of Paper Magazine, where she said: “I watched my mom have to be submissive, watch her Ps and Qs or she’s gonna get beat up,

“You can either be, unfortunately, so damaged by it that you take a turn for the worse, or you can feel empowered by it and make choices to never go down that route.”

She added: “I hate when people say, ‘Why doesn’t she just leave?’ There’s psychological damage and mental abuse that comes with being in a situation like that. A lot of people don’t have the ability to vocalize it themselves or have the know-how to get out.”

Aguilera went on to discuss the backlash she faced during her ‘Dirrty’ period in the early noughties and said that the world is more progressive in 2018.

“They don’t have as much backlash when they come out on the scene,” she said of today’s rising artists. “And I did. It was a very interesting and controversial time for me.”

The singer recently appeared on James Cordon’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ to belt out some of her best 00’s hits. As she sat in the passenger seat, Aguilera sang along to the hits ‘Dirrty’, ‘Fighter’, ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Genie In A Bottle’.

There are also rumours that Aguilera could be involved in a ‘Lady Marmalade’ reunion.
