After months of speculation, Sony’s Xperia XZ2 Premium, which was officially announced back in April, finally has a price tag over in the United States and, unsurprisingly, it’s pretty high.

Going head to head with Apple’s iPhone X in the market, the Xperia XZ2 Premium will be available unlocked in the US for $999.99 and is currently set to begin shipping on July 30th. Nevertheless, those who are eager to purchase the smartphone will be able to do so ahead of time via a pre-order period that will be live on both Amazon and Best Buy’s websites starting July 9. Also, as an added extra for those who purchase it through the former's website, the company is throwing in a free pair of Sony’s Xperia Ear Duo wireless headphones which went on sale at the end of last month.

For the pretty high price tag, the XZ2 Premium offers a large 5.8-inch 4K display complete with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio and the company’s trademark bezels. Also, the Snapdragon 845 by Qualcomm powers the smartphone and is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. When it comes to the camera department, the smartphone is Sony’s first flagship to sport a dual-camera setup on the rear in the form of a main 19-megapixel sensor accompanied by a monochrome 12-megapixel lens.

Despite the fact that Sony’s newest device is yet to be released, recent leaks have suggested the Japanese brand is already working on a successor that could possibly debut later on this year. Nevertheless, the device isn’t expected to bring any major to the tablet. In fact, the only significant upgrade is set to be the presence of an 18:9 aspect ratio.
