Intel Z390 Chipset is the much-rumored chipset expected to launch later this year if the rumors and leaks are to be believed. While the chipset isn’t out yet but, details have been leaking and new Intel Z390 Chipset details have leaked online.

The leak comes from Xfastest who has revealed an internal document for the upcoming Intel Z390 Chipset revealing interesting new details.

According to the leak, the Intel Z390 Chipset will feature up to six USB 3.1 Gen2 ports natively which doesn’t exist for the previous Intel Z370 chipset.

Furthermore, the upcoming Z390 chipset will feature built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi support that will be integrated using Intel’s new connectivity. However, this will potentially add $10-15 to the cost of the motherboard.

While these features will be making a bit of difference but, overall features will remain the same as the Z370 chipset which gives credibility to the report that Z390 is just a rebrand of Z370.

Intel Z390 Chipset

According to the report, the Z390 chipset won’t be based on the 14 nm process as promised by Intel and will maintain the 22 nm process for Intel Z390 chipset.

While Intel has been very quiet about the upcoming motherboards based on the Intel Z390 chipset but, first ever Z390 motherboard Asus TUF Z390-Pro has leaked.

The leaked document for the motherboard suggests that motherboard was running Intel Core i7-8700K, however, rumors are that Intel will roll out its 8-core Coffee Lake CPUs along with Z390 motherboards.

However, aside from hinting that Intel Z390 motherboards are on their way and will be available soon, this leak doesn’t reveal anything new.

Also, this is not the only motherboard based on the Z390 chipset that ASUS is working on as ASUS is reportedly working on Z390 based ROG Maximus XI series motherboards.

The report suggests that Asus is working on 4 Maximus XI series motherboards for the Z390 chipset.

  • ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XI CODE
  • ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XI EXTREME
  • ASUSincreasingUS XI FORMULA
  • ASUS ROG MAXI,MUS XI HERO

With the increasign amount of leaked documents and rumors it is clear that we are getting close to the launch of motherboards based on the Intel Z390 chipset and possibly it will replce the Z370 this quarter.

It will be interesting to see what more Intel will offer with Z390 chipset considering AMD Ryzen is breathing down its neck and has been taking the CPU market share for its own.
