A new Gamescom trailer related to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has hinted that we may be getting a PS4 version of PUBG in the near future. The picture in question shows the Bluehole devs developing the game, while a Playstation 4 Pro sits nearby. PUBG currently is available only on Xbox One and PC.

While lately Fortnite has been eclipsing everything in terms of Battle Royale games, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still quietly chugging along, despite losing large numbers of players to Fortnite due to rampant cheating, technical bugs, and a very slow update schedule. Fortnite, in the meantime, is more lighthearted, is constantly being updated, and is also far more technically stable.

While PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds made millions in sales on the PC before it was even fully released, and also got millions of sales on the Xbox One, it still is missing from the Playstation 4 even though it’s also been ported to mobile.

We don’t know exactly why this is (maybe it’s because Sony doesn’t believe in cross-platform gameplay), but that photo might be some indication that Bluehole is working on the Playstation 4.

The Playstation 4 is an untapped market, so if a PS4 version of PUBG is indeed coming they might be able to bolster their numbers some more. However, since Fortnite has already beaten them to that console, it might not be as successful as they think, especially if Battlegrounds still has a lot of the problems that cost it so many players in the first place.

Of course, we still don’t even know if we’re even getting a PS4 version of PUBG yet. If we were, it’s likely that Bluehole would actually announce it, and they’ve been quiet for a pretty long time with no real news or anything coming out of the studio. If a version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for the Playstation 4 does come out, however, hopefully it will have reached its full potential.
