JEFF Horn will take on Anthony Mundine in a massive fight at Suncorp Stadium that is set to draw in thousands of tourists and generate millions of dollars for the local economy.

Dubbed the ‘River City Rumble’, the fight will go ahead on November 30 after the State Government managed to seal the deal with D&L Events.

It follows plenty of speculation about a potential bout and Horn’s loss to Terence Crawford in Las Vegas earlier this year.

At a press conference this afternoon, Horn said he was looking forward to returning to a packed Suncorp Stadium.

“The atmosphere was unbelievable when I beat Manny Pacquiao last year and it’s great knowing I’m going to experience that feeling all over again,” he said.

“I need to have a convincing win if I want to get back in the mix to win back my world title and that’s exactly what I intend to do.”

Tourism Minister Kate Jones would not reveal how much money the State Government had contributed towards the fight, but guaranteed it was less than the $5 million it is expected to bring in to the local economy.

“The success of high-profile, high-value events like the Battle of Brisbane deliver real benefit to Brisbane’s tourism industry,” she said.

“The fact that we’ve secured the River City Rumble helps to prove that Queensland is Australia’s capital for major events.”

The event is expected to attract 15,000 visitors to the city, with ticket prices starting at less than $30.

The stakes will be high for Anthony Mundine, who will be hit with substantial financial penalties if he comes in over the 71kg weight limit.

The first kilo over will cost him $350,000 and every kilo after that will cost half a million dollars.

Horn said he will have to gain an extra 4kg before the fight, which he hopes will work in his favour.
