  12. Nick Jonas says his new song is about 'feeling trapped in hopeless love'. The 21-year-old pop star released his latest solo single Chains on Thursday. Nick is elated with his work, as he believes the tune represents an authenticity fans haven't seen from him yet. 'It's a song that embodies the feeling of being trapped in a love that is hopeless,' he told MTV News. 'I think it's a great new sound for me and a really good taste tester for this project. That's what I grew up on and that's what feels natural when I open my mouth to sing and so having a pop alternative music bed with the soul vocal, I feel like really works. I think this is definitely more of a mature sound as it relates to Jonas Brothers music and Nick Jonas & the Administration.' According to the Nick, he will be writing 'a bunch of songs on the record' himself, although Chains wasn't a tune he penned. 'The story behind Chains is basically that feeling that all people can relate to, it's being trapped. For me specifically in this song, I connected to love and trust and for some people they have said it's broader for them, it's more than love, it can be about anything that entangles you in your life and doesn't let you do what you need to do to feel free,' he said. 'I think this is a good fit and I fell in love with the song and I really feel like it has become a staple for this album.' Nick and his brothers Kevin and Joe announced their band the Jonas Brothers split last year, but earlier this month reports emerged they may consider a reunion.
  13. Justin Bieber has reportedly lined up some dates with a Guess model. The 20-year-old singer's long-suffering romance with Selena Gomez is currently thought to be off, with Justin turning his attention elsewhere. Earlier this week he posted a picture of model Danielle Knudson on Instagram, asking who she was and calling her "stunning". Luckily for Justin, the answer wasn't far away. "Justin and Danielle happen to have a few mutual friends, and about four people passed her number on to Justin the same day that he posted it,' an insider told New York Daily News' Confidenti@l column. 'Danielle's in Miami for Swim Week, she's single, and she decided to text him. Now they're texting back and forth, and they're planning to meet. Danielle is based in New York and she's always travelling, but they're planning to get together next time she's in LA. Justin's single right now, too, so why not?' Danielle hails from Canada just like Justin and is apparently at the beginning of her career. Friends have called her "super sweet" and have apparently been trying to arrange a date for her for a while. She even hinted she was interested in Justin by reposting the image he'd used and captioning it: "Thanks for the shout out my fellow Canadian." Justin isn't the only one who is moving on - Selena has been celebrating her birthday in Saint Tropez this week and was spotted cosying up to founder of the Royal Yacht Supplies Tommaso 'Tommy' Chiabra. He was previously linked to Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr, who was seemingly irritated to see pictures of him cuddling the 22-year-old former Disney star. "You want to come in my life, the door is open. You want to get out of my life, the door is open. Just one request. Don't stand at the door, you're blocking traffic," she tweeted, thought to be in reference to Tommy.
  14. Nicole Scherzinger isn't worried that new girlband G.R.L. will steal The Pussycat Doll's pop crown. The American singer was one fifth of the mega group, who were well known for showing off their dancing skills as well as their singing abilities. While Nicole now enjoys solo success as well as a burgeoning TV career, she's not yet ready to let anyone steal the Pussycat Doll's vibe. 'Nobody could ever replace the Pussycat Dolls and G.R.L. were never ever going to be the new PCD," Nicole revealed to British newspaper Daily Star. 'They are very pop. [Producer/songwriter] Dr. Luke is involved and they are five different gorgeous girls doing their own thing." While 36-year-old Nicole doesn't think her former band has anything to worry about in regards to G.R.L., she was full of praise for the emerging stars. The band is made up of Simone Battle, Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen, and was formed by Robin Antin, the brains behind The Pussycat Dolls. 'They're adorable but the Dolls set-up was very different. It was a unique time and nothing else had ever come out like that before.' "The Dolls hold a special place in my heart,' she added 'Nobody can touch us. Hopefully we'll get back together.' Nicole, as well as former bandmates Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt, has enjoyed massive success on British TV, but she's now focusing on her music once again. The star is working on her second studio album, and has recently released new track Your Love but reveals a close pal has suggested she mix up her style slightly. 'Prince is a good friend of mine and he's always wanted me to sing more soul rock,' she divulged.
  15. Former Asia singer John Payne is suing Rock Vault Tours, the Las Vegas Hotel and Westgate Resorts over his firing from the show Raiding the Rock Vault. Payne developed the format of the show, which plays at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and cover rock music from its inception, with David Kershenbaum and had been a bassist and singer in the show before being let go June. He is now suing the companies for continued compensation for a show that he helped develop. John's original agreement with Rock Vault Tours had him receiving 4.5% of the net box office receipts until the initial investment was recouped and 6.5% after that. His lawsuit alleges that, in May, he was forced to assign his rights to the show or be fired and that he did so without 'adequate consideration.' Because of the assignment of rights, Payne says he is no longer being paid the agreed royalties nor the $1,000 per performance that was also part of his deal. In addition, the lawsuit alleges slander for remarks made after his firing and violation of publicity rights as the defendants continued to use his likeness to promote the show after his termination. Payne was lead singer for Asia from 1991 to 2006.
  16. Cameron Diaz is already talking about marrying boyfriend Benji Madden, according to reports. The There's Something About Mary actress has been dating the Good Charlotte guitarist for three months. But things are supposed to be going so well between the two that the 41-year-old is reportedly considering heading up the aisle for the first time. 'Cameron has told close friends that she can really see herself settling down with Benji,' an insider told Life & Style. 'She's been boasting to pals that she's never had sexual chemistry with anyone like she has with Benji.' Cameron has previously said that marriage wasn't something that she had been 'drawn to'. But with the 35-year-old, she seems to have found her soul mate, and the possibility of marriage isn't only coming from one side of the relationship. 'Benji is so head over heels for her,' the insider tells the mag. 'He believes he'd be the luckiest guy in the world to wed Cameron.' It had previously been reported that the Sex Tape star had already started using Benji's real last name, Combs, as an alias whenever she was ordering a delivery or checking into a hotel. She has also introduced the rocker to her family, with the pair spending the Fourth of July weekend with her mum and aunt in Orlando, Florida. 'She goes there every summer and spends time hanging out on the beach with her aunt and her mom," a source told Us Weekly. "She is super laid back and didn't hesitate for a second to introduce him to her family." It's been a whirlwind few months but if the couple continue to maintain such a pace, wedding bells could be heard sooner rather than later. 'If the whirlwind relationship continues on its current path, Benji will be ring shopping before the end of summer!' the source added to Life & Style.
  17. Printable version Neon Jungle react awkwardly when they are starstruck. The British girl band consists of members Jess Plummer, Shereen Cutkelvin, Amira McCarthy and Asami Zdrenka. As well as having two top ten singles in the UK, the group have supported Jessie J on tour and performed at the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2013. It has given the girls the opportunity to meet famous faces, but they have often been left cringing at their reaction. "When we were supporting Jessie J, me and Amira waited in the corridor so she wouldn't be able to escape us," Jess, 21, recalled to British Star magazine. "But when she came up to us I did the world's most awkward handshake and I could barely talk!" The Braveheart singers don't just get to meet fellow musicians though. The girls enjoyed seeing Cara Delevingne recently but Amira, 18, is worried the model will have the wrong impression of her. "Cara Delevingne is really lovely too," Jess said before Amira added, "I accidentally FaceTimed Cara two days ago and it was the most awkward thing ever. Luckily she didn't answer, but she probably thinks I'm a stalker." One of the highlights for the band was when they were at the next table to American pop star Miley Cyrus. The Wrecking Ball singer was being her typical over the top self and the girls loved it. "When Miley Cyrus was at the table next to me dancing, I was like 'Oh.My.God!'" Amira continued. "She was in her knickers dancing on a table, taking selfies!" With their newfound fame, the Welcome to the Jungle singers are finding themselves on the receiving end of male attention. "I met Harry Styles and then he followed me on Twitter!" Asami, 18, revealed. "In my head I totally got chatted up by Harry!"
  18. Billboard names iconic recording artist and performer Lionel Richie its 'Legend Of Live' for the 2014 Billboard Touring Awards ' honoring the concert industry's top artists, venues and professionals ' November 20 in New York City. He will accept the honor among industry peers being recognized for their outstanding work at a ceremony at The Edison Ballroom, a culmination of the two-day Billboard Touring Conference & Awards. The annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, in its 11th year, is for the first time split between two venues, The Roosevelt Hotel and The Edison Ballroom, in order to accommodate expansion. The bulk of conference activities will take place at The Roosevelt Hotel, November 19 and 20. Billboard's highest accolade in the touring space, the Legend Of Live award honors individuals or bands who have made significant and lasting contributions to live music and the touring industry. Beyond success at the box office, the Legend Of Live recognizes professionalism and steadfast commitment to the art and craft of live performance and reaching fans through the concert experience. From his early days performing on the R&B circuit with the Commodores and his breakout as a solo performer up until his current blockbuster All The Hits, All Night Long tour, Richie has built a reputation for professionalism and delivering crowd-pleasing performances. Richie has sold more than 100 million records and charted a wealth of the most beloved Billboard hits in history, but his musicianship and charismatic live performances have also played a critical role in the longevity of his career. "Though he has received countless awards for his albums and songs, Lionel Richie has never been honored specifically for his contributions to live music, so we are thrilled that Billboard will be able to do just that at the Billboard Touring Awards in November," says Ray Waddell, Billboard's executive director of content and programming for touring and live entertainment. "Mr. Richie is an international superstar whose talent transcends musical trends. His fans span generations, and he is committed to making his live shows the best possible experience, and, as such, he personifies a Legend Of Live." Previous Legend Of Live honorees are promoter/producer Michael Cohl, promoter Jack Boyle, Sir Elton John, pioneering agent Frank Barsalona, the Allman Brothers Band, Ozzy Osbourne, Rush, Journey, Neil Diamond, and George Strait. The Billboard Touring Awards honor the concert industry's top artists, venues and professionals for the year, primarily based on the Billboard Boxscore chart and actual box office performance between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014. More about the 2014 Billboard Touring Conference & Awards to be announced closer to event date.
  19. George Michael 'hasn't been seen out for months'. The Fastlove singer was rushed to the hospital in May after collapsing in his North London home. Last year, the performer suffered a head injury when he fell out of a moving vehicle in the fast lane of the M1 motorway. Now the 51-year-old is apparently causing concern among his friends as he has not left his home since being taken to the hospital in May, the British newspaper The Mirror reports. 'He hasn't been seen out for months, he's self-conscious about the scars on his throat and head caused by the M1 incident, and he's put on weight,' a source told the publication. The Careless Whisper singer has also had few visitors aside from his record producer David Austin and has been absent on his Twitter account since June 25, according to The Mirror. 'People are worried sick about him. He's just cut himself off from everyone,' a source explained. George has not had an easy time over the last few years. He drove his car into a storefront in 2010 and later served four weeks in prison for a DUI. The star has experienced a number of near-death events, including being unconscious for three weeks in 2011 after falling ill with pneumonia as well as the incident where he fell out of his vehicle on a motorway in 2013. In 2009 he separated from Kenny Goss after 13 years together. 'Since splitting from Kenny and all his problems, he's just gone off the radar,' a source told The Mirror. 'It was really down to Kenny that he was actually out socialising ' even if it was just going to the cinema locally or for a meal.'
  20. During a Far Cry 4 panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con event, the developers announced an interesting contest: one person will get the chance to play Far Cry on Mount Everest. The winner will use a specialized (but unspecified) piece of gaming hardware that both allows for playing on the go while also standing up to the harsh weather conditions of the icy mountains. [Note that a game has made the trek up Everest before; it was a DS, as detailed on this NeoGaf thread from 2005] Ubisoft is looking for hardcore Far Cry fans, but the rules are straightforward: Upload a YouTube video explaining why you're the most qualified for the trek, and include "Far Cry 4 Quest For Everest" in the title. Rules and restrictions for the contest can be found on the Ubisoft Quest for Everest site.
  21. Earlier this year, soccer player Lionel Messi was announced as the cover star of the upcoming FIFA 15. Last night, EA Australia announced that Australian player Tim Cahill would be joining him on the cover of the game in Australia. Tim Cahill scored an impressive goal at this year's World Cup.This would not be the first time Cahill has appeared on the cover of a FIFA game, having been featured on the cover since his first appearance on FIFA 10. FIFA 15 will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, 3DS, Wii, PlayStation Vita, and PC. EA Sports has promised a "whole new level of visuals" with FIFA 15, which features minute details like visible breathing and hair movement. The game launches on September 23 in North America, September 25 in Europe, and September 26 in the UK.
  22. The things that the modding community on PC can accomplish are downright amazing. Take the iCEnhancer mod for Grand Theft Auto IV, for example, which has just been updated once again and continues to make a six-year-old game look like something that could be released today. With the release of the 3.0 update, a wide variety of graphical improvements for GTA IV have been added or further refined. You can see the full changelog outlined by the mod's creators here, but really all you need to do is check out the video above, which showcases the extent to which GTA IV's graphics are overhauled. The mod's official website has crashed due to the flood of traffic it's received in the wake of the update's release, but the mod can still be downloaded elsewhere in the meantime. A list of download mirrors can be found here. GTA IV without the use of any mods. For those suffering low frame rates, a post on the mod's Facebook page offers some advice--the mod, understandably, is more resource-intensive than the game, which is a system hog in its own right. It's suggested that players open the file "icenhancer_config.txt," where you can tweak options to improve performance. "By default, it's on high quality," the post explains. "Reduce the godray quality, mostly to medium or low." The sequel to GTA IV, Grand Theft Auto V, will finally arrive on PC later this year alongside Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. These three new versions will sport much improved graphics over the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, as well as denser traffic and new wildlife, among other things. Have you tried the iCEnhancer mod before? If so, let us know what your experience with it has been like in the comments below.
  23. The first entry in a DLC trilogy for Dark Souls II, Crown of the Sunken King, has arrived. After not making much of an impression on us at E3, the DLC went live this week, and with it, the first reviews. Crown of the Sunken King doesn't shy away from being difficult, and you won't be able to jump right into it without having played a good portion of the main game. Provided you've done enough to stand a chance against the new enemies the DLC introduces, you'll find an entrance to its new areas in the Black Gulch. Depending upon your approach (i.e. how many times you die), it may take anywhere from four to ten hours to complete. Two more DLC packs are still to come: Crown of the Old Iron King on August 26 and Crown of the Ivory King on September 24. Each DLC pack is priced at $10, or you can get all three in a bundle for $25. As the names might suggest, the overall story entails players being tasked with recovering crowns, specifically those belonging to King Vendrick. Check out a selection of Crown of the Sunken King reviews below. Let us know if you plan on picking it up or, if you already have, what you think about it in the comments below. Game: Dark Souls II: Crown of the Sunken King DLC Developer: From Software Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC Release Date: July 22 Price: $9.99 (individually) or $24.99 (season pass) GameSpot -- 8/10 "Dark Souls II by itself is so rich and robust in its challenges that I still feel the afterglow of having beaten it months ago. Yet that also comes with psychological scabs from the dozen replayed battles against the likes of the poison rat king and the smelter demon. As I began my eight-hour playthrough of Crown of the Sunken King, a line from The Shawshank Redemption echoed in my head: 'And if you've come this far, maybe you're willing to come a little further.' I was willing and, with every Souls playthrough to date, I have been rewarded accordingly. Crown of the Sunken King's standout exploratory design and abundance of engaging enemy encounters make it a terrific adventure, though a hair short of being essential. Equally significant is that it succeeds at raising the stakes for the next installment." [Full review] Polygon -- 8.5 "Even when it's frustrating, Dark Souls II: Crown of the Sunken King balances out its rough patches with a sense of unbridled satisfaction. It's a perfect example of the interplay between tension and relief that the Souls series has become famous for. Crown of the Sunken King may be an optional expansion, but it transcends its own status. It ranks among the best Souls levels I've ever played--and damn near beaten." [Full review] Eurogamer -- 8/10 "It's a strong start for this series of add-on chapters for Dark Souls II, then. There are no standout battles--save, perhaps, for the grim final encounter--but the cumulative effect of its fights, puzzles and secrets is memorable: Sanctum City and its offshoot areas lodge in the mind like so many of this series' locales. It's exciting to see the team return to the ingenious, interlocking layout of Demon's Souls and the first Dark Souls and there are enough novel ideas to be found in this shantytown of pillars, temples and chipped blocks to reassure you that this is a team that has run out of neither inspiration nor vigor." [Full review] IGN -- 8/10 "Dark Souls II: Crown of the Sunken King is a brutal, but entertaining opening to a coming trilogy of DLC. Though I wasn't wild about some of the level design, the emphasis on puzzle solving added a welcome new layer to the already-deep Souls gameplay. Within its four hours, I played through a handful of encounters that were as tense, challenging, and rewarding as anything in the entire Souls series, and that's saying something." [Full review] US Gamer -- 4.5/5 "From Software went above and beyond with their Crown of the Sunken King DLC: invest in its tiny asking price, and you may find yourself getting just as much time out of it as you would a $60 game. But it's more than just the amount of content that makes this DLC irresistible--it's what From did with it. The amount of surprises and fresh ideas Crown has to offer should make any Souls fan salivate over the prospect of two incoming DLC packages developed (hopefully) with the same amount of thoughtfulness." [Full review] Game Informer -- 9/10 "The zones themselves are among the most labyrinthine in Dark Souls II and include a huge amount of dead drops and lethal traps, which are often served up under duress from unwavering foes. This creates an atmosphere of claustrophobia and keeps an uncomfortable pressure bearing down on the player throughout the entire DLC experience. The content of The Crown of the Sunken King seems small in comparison to the Artorias expansion for the original game, but with two other pieces coming to expand upon things (and the promise of additional secrets when all three have been cleared), I can't wait to die again."
