  3. "This record is about understanding your worth" Halsey has shared a new song called ‘Without Me’ – her first solo material since 2017. The song premiered as Zane Lowe’s ‘World Record’ on his Apple Music Beats 1 show today (October 4). The American singer, who last year scored a number one in the Billboard 200 for her second album ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’, explained in a statement what the track is about. “Questioning your purpose and your effort in a relationship can be confusing and draining. But it’s important to self-reflect and know your worth and value,” she said. “This record is about understanding your worth. It’s a very honest record. And it helped me prove to myself that I can still manifest my feelings into art after all this time. My music will always be the vehicle that carries my heart.” Last month, Halsey teased the new single with a short video that showed flashing images of the singer under pouring water. Lyrics including, “Said I’d catch you if you fall” and “Does it ever get lonely?” pop up on screen. The ‘Bad At Love’ singer will join Benny Blanco and Khalid at the American Music Awards on October 9 for a performance of the trio’s hit collaboration, ‘Eastside’. In other news, Halsey revealed last month that she makes a small cameo in Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s new film, A Star is Born. When a fan asked if she would play herself or a fictional character, she replied: “I play myself for a very small moment! Which is insane because it means Gaga and Bradley saw me worthy of representing a piece of the current state of music in this film forever.”
  4. The follow up to 2017's 'Evolve' is on its way... Imagine Dragons have released details of their new album, ‘Origins’. The follow up to 2017’s platinum selling ‘Evolve’, ‘Origins’, the band’s fourth studio album, will be released on November 9 via KIDinaKORNER and Polydor Records. Previous single releases ‘Natural’ and ‘Zero’ will also appear on the album. Speaking about the new album, vocalist Dan Reynolds said the album was conceived as a sister album to ‘Evolve’ from the onset. He said: “It’s about seeking new ground but also appreciating your roots. When we create, we create with no boundaries, no rules. We find it thrilling to make music that feels different and new to us.” Producers on the album include Joel Little who has worked with Lorde, Mattman & Robin, who produced Carly Rae Jespen and John Hill, who has previously worked alongside Florence + the Machine. Recently, Reynolds joined the chorus of artists taking a stand against Eminem for his use of homophobic language on his new album ‘Kamikaze’. Reynolds, a vocal gay rights activist, said: “It’s never ok to say a word that is filled with hate. “I don’t care what year you were born in or what meaning it has to you. if it contributes to hate and bigotry then it is hateful. period. there is never an ok time to say the word fa**ot I don’t care who you are. “I’ve lived enough of my life remaining silent on these issues because of fear or lack of education. I don’t live in fear anymore. I still have lots to learn. but no. I will not be a silent voice with this platform I have been given.” Reviewing Imagine Dragons last album, ‘Evolve’, NME said: “‘Evolve’, the band’s third full-length record in five years, is an ’80s-flecked, power-rock pumping station fit to burst with huge choruses.”
  5. 'Bottle It In' will drop on October 12 Kurt Vile has released a new song today (October 4), taken from his upcoming album ‘Bottle It In. ‘One Trick Ponies’ is the third song to be released from the album, out on October 12, with ‘Bassackwards’ and ‘Loading Zones’ having been released previously. Described as “a joyful and infectious country rock number,” the track hears Vile play harmonica, guitar and piano. It also features harmonies with Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa and Farmer Dave Scher. Vile’s upcoming album will feature artists including Kim Gordon, Cass McCombe and others. ‘Bottle It In’ is Vile’s first solo material since 2015’s ‘b’lieve I’m goin down
’, and his first piece of new music since his collaborative album with Courtney Barnett, ‘Lotta Sea Lice’, which came out last year. 6. Today's Post: New IRC server + progress! (2018-10-05 update) As of today, our new Orpheus IRC is open to the public. This server runs on a more stable host than irc.apollo.rip and has a valid SSL certificate. We encourage everyone to join irc.orpheus.network, register their username with nickserv, and leave Apollo as soon as possible. Staff will deal with questions asked in irc.apollo.rip on a best-effort basis from this point on. The Apollo server will run until the next payment is due, some time around the 25th of October. irc.orpheus.network Port: +7000 for SSL (6667 for non-SSL) Channel: #help. SSL connections are strongly recommended. You will be happy to hear that there has been a lot of progress on the relaunch of our beloved site. As of now, Gazelle and Ocelot are running, and everything is locked down. Importing the old database, however, has proven more difficult than originally anticipated. The backup was in the form of tab-separated text files, with no care taken to delimit anything. Any row with a field (or worse, serveral fields) containing multi-line text data, double quotes or tab characters causes the Mysql import to fail. Spine has been working relentlessly around the clock to parse the data, clean it up and import the tables without error. Everything is going well, if slowly, and no data will be lost. As this is taking much more time than we originally expected, we cannot even begin to test migrating and will have to extend our launch date a little bit. We will be giving early access to some of the biggest uploaders of Apollo (from both before and after the backup date), the Interview team, Charlie team, FLS team and the Archive team. This early access is not meant to give them an (unfair) advantage, but to ensure that the majority of the torrents are seeded at the official launch, and that these uploaders get the chance to re-upload their own rips that have been lost due to the age of the backup. The duration of this early access will be approximately one week. Shorter if we don't discover any bugs, or longer if we encounter unforseen errors. Staff will decide on who receive early access and who don't. We will contact you, please don't ask for it. We will continue to post updates here as we make progress. See you on IRC! Athena, Spine and the rest of the Orpheus crew.
  7. Google, Yandex and other prominent Internet companies in Russia are discussing the creation of a database of infringing content including movies, TV shows, games, and software. The idea is that the companies will automatically query this database every five minutes with a view to removing such content from search results within six hours, no court order required. Every day, countless thousands of pieces of infringing content are uploaded to the Internet including most movies, TV shows, games, and commercial software. Rightsholders everywhere are struggling to the contain the influx, often having to resort to filing millions of takedown notices with Internet companies, the bulk of which target the world’s major search engines. While this doesn’t take down the actual content itself, there is a theory that citizens often turn to search engines to find their fix. These sites, in turn, direct users to sites hosting infringing content. To combat this facilitation, copyright holders want search companies to remove these results from their indexes. Takedowns like this are common in the West, with Google removing billions of links upon request. In Russia, however, search engine Yandex found itself in hot water recently after refusing to remove links on the basis that the law does not require it to do so. This prompted the authorities to suggest that a compromise agreement needs to be made, backed up by possible changes in the law. It now appears that this event, which could’ve led to Yandex being blocked by ISPs, has prompted both Internet companies and copyright holders to consider a voluntary agreement. Discussions currently underway suggest a unique and potentially ground-breaking plan. The initial meeting between telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor, Internet companies Yandex, Google, and Mail.ru, plus representatives of the Association of Producers of Cinema and Television (APKiT), the National Media Group, and Gazprom Media Holdings, took place September 19. According to news outlet RBC, the topic of discussion was the creation of a special database holding the details of known infringing copies of content including movies, games, software and other pirated content. The proposals envision that once details of content are placed in the database, search engines and video hosting sites that sign up to a memorandum of understanding with rightsholders will automatically query the database every five minutes for updates. Once the details are fed back, search companies will remove links to pirate resources from their search results within six hours, without any need for a court process. This will run alongside the current database currently maintained by Roscomnadzor and utilized by ISPs, which contains links to sites that are blocked due to having multiple complaints filed against them at the Moscow City Court. If adopted, this new extrajudicial process will go some way to clearing up the problems caused by the current legal gray area, which led to Yandex removing links to content from its video portal to avoid a potential ISP blockade, even though the company believes that the law does not require it to do so. It’s suggested that the infringing resource database, should it go ahead, could be maintained by the Internet Video Association (IVA), which represents intellectual property rights holders. Alternatively, RBC notes, an alternative coalition of entertainment companies including legal streaming platforms could be put in charge of the project. Talks appear to be fairly advanced, with agreements on the framework for the database potentially being reached by the middle of this week. If that’s the case, a lawsuit recently filed by Gazprom Media against Yandex could be settled amicably. It’s understood that Yandex wants all major Internet players to become involved, including social networks. With the carrot comes the possibility of the stick, of course. Gazprom Media indicates that if a voluntary agreement cannot be reached, it will seek amendments to copyright law that will achieve the same end results.

  9. A few months ago 123movies, also known as 123movieshub and GoMovies, announced its surprise shutdown. The disappearance of Hollywood's main nemesis long remained a mystery, but the MPAA now explains that the streaming giant folded after a criminal investigation and significant movie industry engagement. At the start of this year pirate streaming site 123movies was one of the largest pirate streaming sites on the web. The site received millions of visitors per day which prompted none other than the MPAA to label it “the most popular illegal site in the world.” For Hollywood, the blatantly infringing activity was a thorn in their side, so behind the scenes the movie studios did all they could to take the site offline, helped by US authorities. In 2017, the US Ambassador to Vietnam called on the local Government to criminally prosecute the site’s operators on their alleged home turf. In addition, the site was also on the radar of the office of the US Trade Representative, which featured 123movies in its latest Notorious Markets report. March this year, the MPAA sent its own people to Vietnam to expedite the issue. The movie industry group teamed up with the local Office of the Police Investigation Agency, hoping that this would lead to the downfall of the streaming site. A few days later, 123movies shut down. “Now it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you for being our friends and thanks for staying with us that long,” the 123movies team wrote, asking users to “respect” filmmakers by paying for movies and TV-shows instead of pirating them. There was never an official explanation for this radical decision but it wasn’t hard to figure out that the ground had become too hot for the operators. Movie industry pressure was mounting and Vietnam also appeared to get more strict on copyright enforcement issues. While 123movies never elaborated on its reason to shut down, the MPAA has now provided some more insight. In its latest list of “notorious markets” sent to the US Government this week, the group links it to a criminal investigation. “An important development in 2018 was the shuttering of a ring of piracy services that had operated under the names 123movies, 123movieshub, gostream, and gomovies following the launch of a criminal investigation in Vietnam and significant industry engagement,” MPAA writes. MPAA on 123movies’ demise. https://torrentfreak.com/images/notorious123.png TorrentFreak asked the MPAA whether this investigation resulted in any arrests, charges, or if it’s still ongoing. We are yet to receive a response. It’s clear though, that the mounting pressure resulted in 123movies being shut down. This is arguably one of the major anti-piracy successes of the year so far, but the problem isn’t over yet. Following the demise of 123movies, several clones and copies stepped up to take its place. However, the MPAA says that it has these on its radar as well. “Since its closure, many copycat sites have emerged. This ring of piracy services had been blocked in at least eight countries prior to its shut down and efforts are underway to shut down the copycats as well,” the MPAA notes. This is not a veiled threat, it appears. Last month, the biggest clone 123movieshub.sc suddenly went offline as well, as the site’s domain was deactivated by the domain name registry. As expected, other 123movies clones were quick to take over the top spot. Source: Torrentfreak.com
