  2. The golden rules are valid for any HD-F and the entire network (IRC). These rules are essential. Not agreeing with them may compromise your account. 1.0. Inactivity of an account. Inactivity of an account during a 60-day period will delete this account that has become useless for the site. What is not considered activity by the system for the account's survival: Stay connected. Download some MB from time to time on a stopped or stopped file. (an uncompleted file is not taken into account as an activity) A rejected upload (an invalid upload is not counted as an activity) Intervene on the shout. (Shout does not keep track of activity on account or history) Offer invitations. (It would be encouraging to distribute the invitation to anyone, not to mention that the members have only 2 except for the supporting members of the site who receive more) Send a PM (is not a sufficient activity) Surf the site (is not a sufficient activity) What is considered sufficient activity by the system for account survival: Full download of a torrent followed by a minimum of seed for 72 hours (the seed below 72 hours is not counted by the system as indicated in the ratio rule) an upload validated by the staf followed by a minimum seed of 72h (same reason as above) creation of posts on the forum (the simple answers are not sufficient answer yes no ok hello welcome ....... is not sufficient activity for the site). The torrent sharing coupled with a regular connection to the site is sufficient (regular in this case mean at least once a month), members who share long-term on the site are just as important as uploads on a tk. We can not adapt a rule to special cases (travel around the world), nowadays even in the depths of the world we manage to have a small connection sufficient for a brief connection to the site (the opportunity can be to share on the forum the experience of the current trip). We are a private tracker and as the majority of members know to be registered on such a site is a privilege and not an acquired right, it is therefore deserved the survival of his account by a minimum of activity. This is not mentioned on the support page but the supporting members of the site have an immunity of inactivity (original on gazelle) 1.1. Do not create more than one account. Members are entitled to one account. If your account has been disabled, contact the staff via #home on IRC. 1.2. Do not trade, sell or give your account. If you no longer want to use your account, send a PM Staff and ask to have your account deleted. 1.3. Do not share accounts. Accounts are for personal use only. Giving access to your account in any way (for example, sharing your login, external program) is prohibited. Invite a friend or direct him to the channel for Interviews via IRC. 2.1. Do not invite bad members. You are responsible for your guests. You will be sanctioned if your guests fail to maintain the required ratio, guests who go against the golden rules will jeopardize your invitation privileges and / or your account. 2.2. Do not trade, sell, give an invitation or offer in public. Invitations should only be given to people you know or trust. There is one exception to this rule: invitations can be offered on forums protected by member classes on another private tracker where an official recruitment topic for HD-F. To propose it on a public space will be at your own risk. 2.3. Do not solicit invitations or accounts. Requesting invitations or an account for another site is strictly prohibited outside of the section provided. Invitations can be offered, but not requested, in the invitation site forum (restricted to Elite and higher classes). 3.1. Do not try to manipulate your ratio. Transferring inaccurate data or increasing your data through unintended uses of the BitTorrent protocol or site options (e.g., query abuse) is ratio manipulation. If in doubt, send a PM Staff for further information. 3.2. Do not send bad data to the tracker (ie cheating, ratio manipulation, ...). Sending erroneous data to the tracker is considered cheating, especially if it is accomplished using a 'cheat client' or by handling an approved client. 3.3. Do not use unacceptable customers
  3. New Official Stylesheets: Open Beta New Official Stylesheets: RED Light and RED Dark For some time now, Redacted has supported legacy stylesheets such as Postmod and Kuro. Thanks to the original developers and any other individuals who have contributed to these stylesheets! However, it is time to continue our own story... Today, we unveil the first iterations of two new official Redacted stylesheets: RED Dark & RED Light! (Thanks, Design Team!) Try out RED Dark or RED Light by switching stylesheets in your profile settings under Site Appearance Settings. *These names are working titles and are subject to change. We Want You! (to test our stylesheets.) We are holding a public beta to test RED Dark and RED Light with an end goal of seamless user experience. The public beta of these stylesheets is expected to last approximately a month, but may be extended or reduced per Staff discretion. Please report bugs or provide suggestions to these stylesheets here, but be sure to follow the rules which have been outlined. Keep general discussion of the stylesheets in this thread. The new default stylesheet is now RED Dark (Beta). After the completion of the beta, Redacted will no longer support any stylesheets except for RED Dark and RED Light, including the current official stylesheets, at that time. At the end of the beta, all users will be force-set to the RED Dark stylesheet. Users using a custom stylesheet will receive a PM containing a link to that stylesheet as well. After the conclusion of the beta, we will begin to make major changes to the site HTML. Legacy stylesheets may not work with new pages once this process begins. Any community members who wish to maintain and adapt legacy stylesheets to fit our HTML changes are welcome to do so.

  7. Following confirmation that Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah will also serve in the same role on Anthem, a new report has emerged that paints a picture of mounting pressure at BioWare. The next Dragon Age project was reportedly rebooted in the last year, and Anthem may not be released before the end of 2018, as previously announced. According to sources speaking with Kotaku, Anthem will now launch in early 2019. The site notes the complexity of its launch, as BioWare needs to account for not just the release of the game itself, but an earlier release through EA Access, a beta test, and post-launch updates. If EA is still intent on getting the game out during the 2019 fiscal year, its launch could come no later than March 2019. As noted above, Darrah has announced on Twitter he is now serving as the executive producer of both the new Dragon Age and Anthem, with Jonathan Warner as game director on Anthem. That's a change from last June, when Darrah stated that he was not involved with Anthem. Change at the studio has been afoot since the troubled launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda early last year, as BioWare Edmonton GM Aaryn Flynn announced his departure last summer, with Casey Hudson returning to the company to take up his position. Kotaku says that the majority of BioWare is now working on Anthem in the lead up to its launch, with smaller teams continuing on Dragon Age and MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. There is apparently some sense that a poor performance by Anthem could result in significant changes at BioWare. A major move was made last year in the wake of Andromeda's release, with developer BioWare Montreal being absorbed into EA Motive. As for Dragon Age, the game has not been formally announced, though it has been briefly teased previously. The project was apparently rebooted in the last year in an effort to "implement more 'live' elements," as Kotaku put it, though there were no specifics shared about what form those will take. The report also makes note of concerns about anger directed toward EA by big-name YouTubers, as well as the outcry over Star Wars Battlefront II's contentious microtransactions. You can read the full report here. We've contacted EA for comment but have not yet received a response. The company is set to share its latest quarterly earnings report on January 30, at which point it may share further details about BioWare's projects.
  8. Nintendo's first mobile game, the Mii-based social networking app Miitomo, is coming to an end. Nintendo announced it will discontinue services for the title on May 9, a little over two years after it first launched. "We see this app as accomplishing a portion of our goal of getting Nintendo IP (in this case, Mii characters) into the hands of consumers across a variety of environments worldwide," Nintendo said on its support website. "At the same time, we've seen the number of ongoing users for the app decrease. We have decided to discontinue this service so that we can better optimize our operational resources across our entire smart device business." Miitomo will be discontinued in all regions simultaneously at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET, after which point players will no longer be able to launch the game. Any Platinum Points you have earned from Miitomo can still be redeemed on My Nintendo, and Sidekick Miis can be saved as QR codes and transferred to the Mii Maker app on 3DS and Wii U. However, players will not be able to formally save any Miitomo content, such as conversations or answers, outside of taking screenshots of it. Ahead of Miitomo's shutdown, Nintendo has removed all in-app purchases from the game. The company is also holding a Final Thank You Festival event leading up to its final day. Players will receive 2,000 Miitomo coins and 5 game tickets as a daily login bonus up until the service is discontinued. Nintendo is also running a final Miifoto event from now until April 18 that asks players to create a photo of their favorite Miitomo memories and share it on Twitter. The best entries will be posted on the official Miitomo website. Miitomo launched for iOS and Android in March 2016 and was notable for being Nintendo's first game for smart devices. As of October 2016, the app was approaching 15 million downloads, though it wasn't making very much money. Nintendo has released a handful of other smartphone games after Miitomo, including Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and most recently Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. A Legend of Zelda mobile game is also reportedly in the works.
  9. The end of the month is quickly approaching, which means a new batch of freebies will soon be available for Xbox Live Gold members. Microsoft has revealed February's lineup of Games with Gold titles, which subscribers will be able download for free on Xbox One and Xbox 360 throughout the month. As usual, the batch consists of four games spread evenly across the two platforms. On the newer console, Devolver Digital's first-person shooter Shadow Warrior will be available for Gold members throughout the entire month. Beginning February 16, it'll be joined by Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India, the side-scrolling spinoff in Ubisoft's stealth series. That title will be available through the remainder of the month until March 15. On Xbox 360, the racing game Split/Second will be available for the first half of the month. On February 16, it'll be replaced by another arcade racer: the Dreamcast classic Crazy Taxi, which will be available until February 28. The latter already supports Xbox One backwards compatibility, while the former is being added to the backwards compatible library today, January 25. That gives Xbox One owners a total of four freebies to snag in February. You can find the full list of February's Games with Gold below. In the meantime, Gold members will be able to claim January's Games with Gold titles until January 31. That lineup includes The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III, Army of Two, and Zombi, the latter of which is available until February 15. Gold members also still have a few days to take advantage of this week's Deals with Gold, which features discounts on Star Wars Battlefront II, Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition, Battlefield 1 Revolution, and more titles.
  10. Two more Xbox 360 games have made their way to Xbox One's backwards compatibility program. Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues and the action-racing game Split/Second are both now available to play on your Xbox One. Lego Indiana Jones 2 follows the familiar format of other Lego action-adventure games, in an open-world environment that allows you to explore and solve puzzles in your way. The game encompasses all four movies in the Indiana Jones series, with focus placed on The Crystal Skull. Split/Second, on the other hand, transports you to a very different world. The arcade-style racing game features multiplayer and a single-player campaign, where you're pitted against your fellow cutthroat racers on a reality TV show. The game features a unique Power Play mechanic, which allows you to trigger destructive events in the environment around you to take out your opponents, once your power bar fills up. Split/Second is also available soon as one of February's Games with Gold. If you own a physical disc for either game, you can simply pop them into your system to begin playing. Digital copies can be found in the Ready to Download area of the My Games and Apps section on the console, or you can buy the games directly through the Xbox Store. For more, check out Gamespot's full list of the nearly 400 backwards compatible games that have been released on Xbox One. Meanwhile, check out these other upcoming Xbox One and Xbox 360 free Games with Gold, arriving this February.
  11. When The New York Times discovered that a site was sharing copies of their articles without permission, it demanded the associated domain registration service to identify the owner. While some companies may be eager to comply, Njalla is not. The anonymous registration service replied with some unusual responses instead, reminiscent of TPB's infamous 'legal threats' section. Back in the day, The Pirate Bay was famous for its amusing responses to legal threats. Instead of complying with takedown notices, it sent witty responses to embarrass the senders. Today the notorious torrent site gives copyright holders the silent treatment, but the good-old Pirate Bay spirit still lives on elsewhere. Earlier today the anonymous domain registration service Njalla, which happens to be a venture of TPB co-founder Peter Sunde, posted a series of noteworthy responses it sent to The New York Times’ (NYT) legal department. The newspaper warned the registration service about one of its customers, paywallnews.com, which offers the news service’s content without permission. Since this is a violation of The Times’ copyrights, according to the paper, Njalla should take action or face legal consequences. NYT: Accordingly, we hereby demand that you immediately provide us with contact information — including email addresses — for both the actual owner of the paywallnew.com website, and for the hosting provider on which the paywallnew.com website is located. If we have not heard from you within three (3) business days of receipt of this letter, we will have no choice but to pursue all available legal remedies. Njalla is no stranger to threats of this kind but were somewhat offended by the harsh language, it seems. The company, therefore, decided to inform the NYT that there are more friendly ways to reach out. Njalla: Thanks for that lovely e-mail. It’s always good to communicate with people that in their first e-mail use words as “we demand”, “pursue all available legal remedies” and so forth. I’d like to start out with some free (as in no cost) advice: please update your boiler threat letters to actually try what most people try first: being nice. It’s not expensive (actually the opposite) and actually it works much better than your method (source: a few tens of thousands years of human development that would not have been as efficient with threats as it would have been with cooperation). In addition, Njalla also included a request of its own. They kindly asked (no demand) the newspaper’s legal department for proof that they are who they say they are. You can never be too cautious, after all. Njalla: Now, back to the questions you sent us. We’re not sure who you are, so in order to move further we’d like to see a copy of your ID card, as well as a notarised power of attorney showing that you are actually representing the people you’re claiming to do. This had the desired effect, for Njalla at least. The NYT replied with an apology for the tough language that was used, noting that they usually deal with companies that employ people who are used to reading legal documents. The newspaper did, however, submit a notarized letter signed by the company’s Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, and once again asked for details on the Njalla customer. NYT: Once again, as I mention above, the referenced website is stealing large amounts of New York Times content. If you click on this link: http://www.paywallnews.com/sites/nytimes … As this abuse — aside from being an egregious infringement of The Times’s copyright — breaches your own Terms of Service, I hope you will be able to see your way to helping me to put a stop to this practice by providing me with the name and contact information for the owner of paywallnews.com and for the ISP on which it is hosted. This is when things started to get really interesting. Founded by someone with an extensive background in “sharing,” Njalla clearly has a different definition of stealing than the NYT’s legal department. The reply, which is worth reading in full along with the rest of the communication, makes this quite clear. Njalla: Stealing content seem quite harsh of this website though, didn’t know that they did that! Is there anyway you can get the stolen items back though? You should either go to the police and request them to help you get the stolen items back. Or maybe talk to your insurance company, they might help to compensate you for the loss. But a helpful idea; if they’ve stolen something and then put copies of that on a website that you can freely access, I would suggest just copying it, so that both of you have the same things. That’s a great thing with the digital world, everyone can have copies of things. I am surprised they stole something when they could just have copied it. I’m guessing it’s some older individuals that don’t know the possibilities of modern day technology to make copies. It’s obvious that the domain registration service makes a clear distinction between copying and stealing. Piracy vs. Theft In addition, Njalla contests that the site is problematic at all, noting that this might be a “cultural difference.” Njalla spotted something even more worrying though. The NYT claims that the site in question violates its terms of service. Specifically, they reference the section that prohibits sites from spreading content that is illegal according to local law. Is the NYT perhaps spreading illegal content itself, Njalla questions? Njalla: Deborah, I was quite shocked and appalled that you referred to this part of our ToS. It made me actually not visit the website in question even though you’ve linked it now a few times. You’re admitting to spreading illegal content at your newspaper, for profit, is that correct? We’re quite big proponents of freedom of speech, let me assure you of that, but we also have limits. If you spread illegal content, and our customers stole that illegal content and are now handing out free copies of that, that’s a huge issue for us. Since it would be illegal for us to get those copies if they’re illegal, I’m asking you what type of content it is? As an attachment to the reply, Njalla also sent back a “notarized” letter of their own, by simply copying the NYT letter and sticking their own logo on it, to show how easily these can be fabricated. TorrentFreak reached out to Sunde who informed us that they never heard from The New York Times after the last reply. As a domain registrant, Njalla is not obliged to comply with takedown requests, he explains. “If they need help from us on copyright issues, they’re totally missing what we’re doing, and that they should look somewhere else anyhow. But I think most domain services gets tons of these threat emails, and a lot of them think they’re responsible because they don’t have access to legal help and just shut customers down. “That’s what a lot of our customers say at least, since they migrated from a shitty service which doesn’t know their own business,” Sunde adds. The NYT is not completely without options though. If they take the case to court in Sweden and win an injunction against paywallnews.com, Njalla will comply. The same is true if a customer really violates the terms of service. Meanwhile, paywallnews.com remains online.

  13. Major spoilers ahead for the midseason finale of Vikings Season 5, called "Moments of Vision." Vikings has been a bloody show from the very beginning, and few characters ever feel entirely safe from being sent off to Valhalla. Finales are almost guaranteed to feature some being killed off in spectacularly tragic fashions, and "Moments of Vision" didn't hold back in sending a couple of characters to the great beyond. Both Astrid and Halfdan died in the Season 5 midseason finale, and the show promises to never be the same ever again. The story of the various brothers is complicated in new ways with Halfdan's death, and Astrid's death was a contributing factor to the beginning of Lagertha's unraveling. There can be no doubt that VIkings will be different in some key ways in the aftermath of "Moments of Vision," although there's no word of exactly how long we'll be waiting to find out what happens next. The good news is that Vikings creator and writer Michael Hirst has weighed in on the big deaths from the midseason finale and why they had to happen. Hirst had this to say: I didn't want to kill any of these characters. It goes without saying that it's very difficult to make those choices and I didn't necessarily begin with those choices either. I was very open to persuading myself that other characters could die. The ones who did it felt organic, like they had looked at their own deaths and were willing to accept them. Astrid was in a terrible situation and looking for her own death. And Halfdan had some sort of premonition that his journey was done. At the same time, I had premonitions that some of the characters weren't finished on their journeys and would survive, although be damaged. I do sometimes play The Seer or the gods, perhaps, but I have to do that. I was satisfied in the end that the deaths made sense but it was incredibly moving to watch them, I must say. According to Michael Hirst in his post-midseason finale comments to Variety, Astrid and Halfdan weren't characters that he'd been waiting and wanting to kill off the show sooner rather than later. In fact, he was open to potentially killing off other characters! The reason Astrid and Halfdan were the ones to bite the dust is simply that their deaths were organic to the stories that had been told to this point. Astrid, pregnant with a child she didn't want, welcomed death, especially at the hands of the woman she loved. Halfdan's premonition of his upcoming demise also introduced the idea that he really could be gone for good ahead of the final reveal of his death. The end of the midseason finale made it clear that Lagertha at least would be incredibly impacted by the events, including Astrid's death. Her hair turned entirely white as she began to face the huge losses from the episode, and she may not ever recover from everything that happened. The good news is that we will get to see more of what happens to Lagertha and the other characters. There's still a whole half of Season 5 to hit the airwaves, although History has not yet announced a premiere date. Even better, Vikings has already been renewed for Season 6! Even if Season 5 ultimately ends on a cliffhanger, we're guaranteed at least one more season. It should be interesting to see if Vikings makes the list of most-pirated shows in 2018 as it did in 2017. For what you can watch now that Vikings has come to an end for now, take a look at our midseason TV premiere guide and our 2018 Netflix premiere schedule.
  14. The Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead was quite possibly the biggest gamechanger of the entire series, and everything got upended after Negan murdered Glenn and Abraham. Carl's impending death arguably eclipses those moments, though, and The Walking Dead will start wading through completely unfamiliar waters in the extended midseason premiere. But we can expect Team Family to do what it does best: stave off depression and take out the enemy. According to star Lauren Cohan, the back half of Season 9 will dive back into the All Out War side of things. We basically go into a huge battle. We've had a lot of action, and now we have this revenge plan in place. The group all comes together and we make this plan for our future while trying to really hold the pieces together in the grief and in the aftermath of Carl. It's a little bit emotionally scattered but militaristically focused. Everybody remembers all of the empowering speeches and pep rallies that went down in the early days of Season 8? It sounds like we're going to get some more of them when the show returns, as the depleted Alexandria, Hilltop and Kingdom crews will reconvene to conceive of and deploy a revised plan to bring justice and peace to all the communities. Which, of course, means that the survivors are going to be locked and loaded and ready to put down any Savior that steps out of line. And in Maggie's case, perhaps even Saviors that step in line. The Walking Dead's midseason premiere will be 82 minutes long, giving the editors and fans more time to spend with Chandler Riggs' Carl Grimes during his final episode. It sounds like the episode will indeed go for all the heartstrings, too, showing the ways in which his exit will deeply affect everyone else, especially Rick. But perhaps those emotions will take a backseat to the expanding vengeance that the groups will be invested in, with Rick's mercy unable to conquer his wrath. Maggie in particular has been militaristically focused as of late, and she's quite tired of life under Negan's authority. She basically took over the Hilltop from the pussyfooting Gregory, and she doesn't much give a shit what he has to say about it. Of course, we all know that brazenly going into battle against Negan doesn't necessarily result in the biggest of successes, but The Walking Dead will probably keep Maggie fairly safe in the near future. Both because of Carl's fate and because she's in the middle of the longest TV pregnancy ever. And that's good, because Lauren Cohan is especially interested in seeing where The Walking Dead goes even beyond all the stuff she knows about already. Here's what else she told EW. I feel so happy for Chandler and everything that he's going to do. And I feel really interested in how this is going to change the future of story because we know how much the story follows Carl's journey. I'm interested in what ideas we're going to have moving forward because I was just really devastated. The Walking Dead will return for the battle-riffic back half of Season 8 on Sunday, February 25, at 9:00 p.m. ET. To see what other new and returning shows will be showing up on the small screen soon, head to our midseason premiere schedule.
  15. Jason Momoa had roles in Hollywood prior to Game of Thrones, but it was his portrayal of Khal Drogo that really got the attention of producers and mainstream audiences. Unfortunately, Khal's popularity didn't necessarily play to his favor, as Momoa apparently had a hard time booking jobs following his stint on the HBO series due to his convincing portrayal of the character. No, Hollywood producers weren't afraid he'd get mad and pour molten gold on the heads of others, but a fair few apparently thought Momoa didn't actually speak English: Yeah, not a lot of people thought I spoke English. It was very challenging. It's like, 'What do you do with Drogo?' You're not gonna put him in a comedy, you're not gonna put him in a romantic...you know what I mean? It's pigeonholed. The thought that Jason Momoa didn't speak English is understandable, considering most of his lines inGame of Thrones are in Dothraki. That said, Dothraki is a fictional language, so unless the people who watched Game of Thrones thought he was just speaking an obscure and unfamiliar language, it's hard to understand why they just assumed he didn't know how to speak English. Additionally, though Momoa wasn't as big of a star prior to Game of Thrones, he had enough sizable roles in shows like Stargate: Atlantis and Baywatch that producers could've easily figured out he spoke English had they looked into it a bit deeper. Unfortunately, it seems some producers didn't, and even if they did, they still might've found it hard to perfectly place Jason Momoa in a general role, considering how well known he was from Game of Thrones. As Momoa told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, it doesn't exactly work to put the guy who played a Dothraki warlord in a comedy or romantic film. Momoa initially seemed to think that was the reason he wasn't landing roles, until former Saturday Night Live cast member and current Portlandia star Fred Armisen clued him in on the fact that not everyone knew he was an American English speaker. Actually, the first person that made me, I guess I was bummed out a bit, was Fred, your buddy. Fred Armisen. I met him, and my stepdaughter Zoe did Portlandia. And he was so excited to meet me, he was amazing. And then he was like, ' I didn't even know you spoke English.' It was heartbreaking. I was like, 'That's why I'm not getting any jobs. Jason Momoa didn't share on The Tonight Show whether or not he added "speaks English," to his resume after that, but whatever he did to change the public's perception of him worked. Among other things, Momoa snagged a sweet starring gig on the Netflix co-produced Canadian drama Frontier, and many, of course, now know him as Aquaman. Momoa's Hawaiian heritage and grasp of the English language appear to be common knowledge now, so hopefully Hollywood bigwigs refrain from making that assumption about him in the future. Otherwise, they actually might get a bowl of molten gold poured on their head. The Tonight Show airs weeknights on NBC at 11:35 p.m. ET. For a list of shows that are set to premiere or return to television in 2018, head on over to our midseason premiere guide.
  16. Francis Lawrence's I Am Legend debuted over a decade ago, and while the film earned solid reviews and has generally been fondly remembered as a good sci-fi/horror thriller, there are certainly a few issues with the film that have popped up among some fans of the source material. These problems haven't gone unnoticed by Lawrence, who recently admitted that if he could, he would go back and make a more faithful adaptation of Richard Matheson's original novella. Lawrence explained: Looking back at it now, I think that we could have just done basically the story of the novella straight up and made the same amount of money in terms of ticket sales because people went I think for the last man on earth. They would have accepted the nihilistic ending, they would have accepted vampires instead of people with infections. We could have literally made the book, which I would have been much happier with, but you know when you're spending that much money you're panicking that you're making this weird little kind of art film about a guy alone with a dog in New York and you're trying to you know sort of create that spectacle. I Am Legend was generally faithful to the source material in the sense that it focused its story on a character named Robert Neville (Will Smith) dealing with his status as the last man on Earth. However, the film made a number of notable changes to the source material, not the least of which included changing the vampires to zombie-like monsters, and turning Neville into an expert scientist with a legitimate shot at curing the disease. Looking back, Francis Lawrence seems to think that audiences would've responded better to the film if it had stuck to the novella and told an arguably more straightforward siege story about a far more average man fighting an army of semi-intelligent vampires. If given another shot, it sounds like Lawrence would've simply stuck to what worked in the text. Then, of course, there's the issue of the movie's polarizing ending, in which Robert Neville remains the hero and sacrifices himself to kill a horde of monsters, instead of the original ending, in which Neville learns that the monsters have humanity. Francis Lawrence continued his conversation with Screen Rant and explained that the original ending (despite being his preferred conclusion) didn't play well with test audiences, saying: I agree it's the better ending. I mean, it's the more philosophical version of the end, but in terms of story math we're doing everything you're not supposed to do, right? The hero doesn't find the cure, right? They drive off into the unknown and the creatures you've been saying are the bad ones the whole time you learn actually have humanity and aren't the bad ones -- the hero's the bad one. And so you've basically turned everything on its head. We tested it twice and it got wildly rejected, wildly rejected, which is why we came out with the other one. It will be interesting to see how these lessons become applied to Francis Lawrence's work moving forward. His next film is an adaptation of Jason Matthews' Red Sparrow (which, to reiterate, is not a Black Widow story), and given his remarks about how I Am Legend turned out; we will have to wait and see if he opted to stay more faithful to source material. Make sure to catch Francis Lawrence's latest directorial effort when Red Sparrow premieres in theaters on March 2.
  17. We've known that a new Mission: Impossible movie was on the way since almost as soon as the last one hit theaters, but the one thing we didn't know was what the movie was actually called. Now, we do. Tom Cruise joined Instagram this morning, and for his first ever post, revealed the new title with an image of a clapboard from the production. Get ready for Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Mission: Impossible titles aren't the most revealing thing in the world, and this one is no different. The first three entries in the franchise didn't even have subtitles. Since then we've had Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, both of which made enough sense within the context of their movies, but weren't the sort of thing that were going to reveal many details before release. Fallout is about the same. It's clear from the name something big is going to happen that will have some major repercussions, but we probably could have guessed that. Either that or the film will take place after a nuclear apocalypse. Probably not that. There actually is an official plot synopsis that has been released which mentions a "race against time" after a "mission gone wrong," which explains exactly what the Fallout of the title is referring to. Although, without any more details, it really doesn't tell us much. Several of the Mission: Impossible films have included missions that went wrong, so there's not a lot new in this summary. It does confirm the primary cast of the film, which, of course, includes Tom Cruise, as well as Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames along with the return of Rebecca Ferguson and Michelle Monaghan. New actors joining the franchise include Angela Bassett and Vanessa Kirby as well as Henry Cavill, who we know is playing the film's main villain. We also know that villain will have a mustache, as it was Cavill's controversial facial hair that made the most headlines during his reshoots for Justice League. The production for Mission: Impossible - Fallout has been a difficult one that has included a significant injury to its major star. Tom Cruise, who is known for insisting on performing his own stunts in his movies, broke his ankle making a rooftop jump last year. This put the film's production back several weeks, but Fallout is still expected to hit its previously scheduled release date this summer. Mission: Impossible - Fallout hits theaters July 27, 2018.
  18. Word to the wise, if you are going to @ a celebrity with a massive social media following on Twitter to complain about something, you better come correct. Because if you don't, when you get dragged, the whole world is going to hear about it. Such is where we find ourselves today after some cavalier fan made the ill-advised decision to complain about Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Needless to say, it did not go well for him. Yikes! It clearly doesn't matter what you think, James. As is made abundantly clear by Dwayne Johnson's response, you can take that opinion, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and well... you know the rest. There is a reason The Rock is the social media maestro he is, because the great one is great at this and he suffers no fools. The fan's central complaint seems to be the fact that in a video game, after dying you would not re-spawn with an item you needed to win. Seriously, that's your complaint? Jumanji is a movie about a magical video game that sucks players into its world, but that's where you draw the line? A fictional video game isn't adhering to traditional real world video game design, and that qualifies as "bullshit"? The Rock has none of this and cites the Jumanji Lore Handbook in his Twitter response, completely refuting the fan's point. What a treasure this guy is. Let this be a lesson to anyone who wants to complain when Rampage hits that wolves can't really fly. The other really funny part of this whole interaction is that the fan feels the need to curse the film in all caps so you know he means it, object to what he perceives to be an inaccuracy as "bullshit," and then proceed to say that other than his one gripe, Jumanji was quite good. Why are you coming in so hostile if you basically liked the film? Such is the need to be overblown and hyperbolic on social media; you get the attention you desperately crave, but rarely come out looking good. I love that The Rock responds with 'my friend' and 'kindly' before tearing into him. Clearly this fan does not speak for the majority, as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle continues to absolutely kill at the box office. Five weeks after it debuted, the loose sequel is still a force to be reckoned with, having won three straight weekends to start out the New Year. The film is a massive hit and sits behind only Furious 7 in terms of box office success of all The Rock's films. With that kind of success, you have to imagine the studio will look to make a sequel. The entire premise of both Jumanji films lends itself to an anthology-type franchise, so it will be interesting to see where things go from here and if the Rock remains on board. Just remember, when you come at The Rock, you better bring it. You can check out our guide to see in what movies Dwayne Johnson will be electrifying cinema screens with next.
  19. Last week out of the blue, it broke that a new Crocodile Dundee project was on the way starring Danny McBride as Brian Dundee, the son of the original legendary bushman, Paul Hogan's Mick Dundee. Although advertised as a movie, there was understandably some skepticism about if this was legitimate, especially considering the announcement of its existence came only months before it's supposed to hit theaters. Well for those of you who doubted its authenticity, it turns out you were right on the money, as Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home is just an elaborate advertising campaign. Following the release of two teasers, the second of which showed Chris Hemsworth playing Brian Dundee's partner on this adventure, Brisbane Times reports that Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home is part of elaborate advertising that Tourism Australia will run during the Super Bowl next month. Tourism Australia and Screen Australia, the production company that's listed on the previews, are keeping up the facade that this is an actual movie that will be released in summer 2018, but contrary to what Paul Hogan said about Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home being used to "bring Dundee to a new generation," it appears that this project is just a way to convince people to visit the Land Down Under. It's also worth noting that Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home's director, Steve Rogers, has previously directed commercials for Nike, Old Spice and Audi, to name a few. Arriving 17 years after Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles was released, Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home follows Brian Dundee, a loudmouthed American, heading to Australia to find his father, who's missing in the Outback. To do that he'll turn to Chris Hemsworth's Wally Jr., who is the heir to his father's outdoor tour company and knows everything there is to know about exploring Australia's terrain. This kid of story might have worked as a quasi-sequel poking fun at its predecessors, akin to the 21 Jump Street movies, instead you should expect this "tale" to be told as an elaborate tourism campaign across the most high-profile football game of the year. Perhaps after the game has aired, a full video of this Crocodile Dundee project will be made available online. Aside from the lack of information surrounding Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home, one big tipoff that this wasn't a legitimate movie is that Danny McBride and Chris Hemsworth (who is a Tourism Australia ambassador) have packed schedules. McBride has been working on the new Halloween movie and Hemsworth only just recently wrapped shooting Avengers 4. Fitting in time to shoot an advertising campaign is one thing, but a movie just wouldn't have been possible given what's on their plates. Still, it will be interesting to see how this both compares to the previous Crocodile Dundee movies and convinces people to travel to Australia for their vacations. The Super Bowl airs Sunday, February 3 on NBC, and for those of you wondering what actual movies are coming out this year, head over to our 2018 release schedule.
  20. Thanks to the post-credits scene of Captain America: Civil War, fans have been speculating for years about the possibility of seeing Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther. As was revealed at the end of the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed blockbuster, the mind-controlled assassin is currently on ice in the nation of Wakanda, and some have wondered if he could possibly be defrosted in time to help King T'Challa deal with his antagonists. It turns out that movie-goers shouldn't get too excited for this idea, given the exchange we had with producer Nate Moore on the set of Black Panther last year: Question: You mentioned this movie isn't going to rely on any cameos from other Avengers movies. Is it safe to assume that the Winter Soldier is still on ice and isn't going to factor in at all? Nate Moore: That is pretty safe to assume. Nate Moore, who has been a producer with Marvel Studios going back to the second Captain America, told us about the possibility of seeing The Winter Soldier in Black Panther last year when I had the pleasure of joining a small group of journalists to visit the set of the blockbuster when it was still in production. As you can probably tell, Moore suggested during our sit down that the latest feature from Marvel will be more self-contained than some of the more expansive franchise features, and part of that means not really featuring any other major superhero characters. It would seem that this includes Bucky Barnes, who will probably be staying frozen until it's time for The Avengers: Infinity War. As cool as it might have been to see Black Panther at some point in his movie go to the cryogenics lab and pick up a secret weapon, there is a logic to that not actually happening. The Winter Soldier didn't freeze himself because he wanted to; he did it because he doesn't feel that he can fully function in the real world given his past with Hydra brainwashing. That very much sets up a "Break Glass Only In Case Of Emergency" situation, and it's hard to imagine things getting that crazy extreme in Black Panther. The man will be woken up soon enough -- given that we see him fighting side-by-side with the Wakandan army in the first trailer for The Avengers: Infinity War, but you probably shouldn't expect any of that to start going down in Marvel's latest solo adventure. Black Panther probably won't ultimately feature very many A-list Marvel Comics characters during its runtime, but the great news is that's balanced out by the ridiculous ensemble featured -- including Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Angela Bassett, Forrest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya, and many, many more. They'll all be up on the big screen come February 16th -- and we couldn't be more excited.
  21. Hey!!! I'm back I thought that in these cold days that remained since the first month of the year, let's do a little contest, do not lose our training. Make a list ... 3 things you like and 3 things you do not like about the IceTorrent community. My prayer is to use only decent words, even if you are bad with us. Not necessarily much. There will be prizes, as usual, about January 31.

  24. Grumpy Cat feels vindicated and is somewhat pleased. Her owners have won a $710,001 jury verdict in California, against a coffee maker that exploited their copyrights. The bulk of the damages were awarded for copyright and trademark infringement, with a symbolic $1 in nominal damages for contract breach. There are dozens of celebrity cats on the Internet, but Grumpy Cat probably tops them all. The cat’s owners have made millions thanks to their pet’s unique facial expression, which turned her into an overnight Internet star. Part of this revenue comes from successful merchandise lines, including the Grumpy Cat “Grumppuccino” iced coffee beverage, sold by the California company Grenade Beverage. The company licensed the copyright and trademarks to sell the iced coffee but is otherwise not affiliated with the cat and its owners. Initially, this partnership went well, but after the coffee maker started to sell other “Grumpy Cat” products, things turned bad. The cat’s owners, incorporated as Grumpy Cat LLC, took the matter to court with demands for the coffee maker to stop infringing associated copyrights and trademarks. “Without authorization, Defendants […] have extensively and repeatedly exploited the Grumpy Cat Copyrights and the Grumpy Cat Trademarks,” the complaint read. Pirate coffee.. After two years the case went before a jury this week where, Courthouse News reports, the cat itself also made an appearance. The eight-person jury in Santa Ana, California sided with the cat’s owner and awarded the company $710,000 in copyright and trademark infringement damages, as well as a symbolic $1 for contract breach. According to court documents, the majority of the damages have to be paid by Grumpy Beverage, but the company’s owner Paul Sandford is also held personally liable for $60,000. The verdict is good news for Grumpy Cat and its owner, and according to their attorney, they are happy with the outcome. “Grumpy Cat feels vindicated and feels the jury reached a just verdict,” Grumpy Cat’s lawyer David Jonelis said, describing it as “a complete victory.”
