  2. Miranda Lambert had no interest in talking about her album The Weight of These Wings before it's release, because she didn't want to "rehash" the pain she was going through while writing it. The Mama's Broken Heart hitmaker wrote the tracks for the record while she was going through her divorce from Blake Shelton in 2015, and she admits she poured so much of her heartache into the album that she didn't want to relive it in front of the media. "I came into (manager) Marion (Kraft's) office and said, 'I'm not speaking to anyone until they hear this record'," she tells music journalist Holly Gleason in an interview with HITS Daily Double. "I thought that was fair... All the sad moments were there, all the truths were right in those songs. All you had to do was listen. I didn't need to say anything." Miranda also knew it would be difficult for her to talk about what she was going through after her marriage break-up multiple times. "It was going to be hell, and I'd already been through hell," she continues. "It was hell putting it on paper, putting my words on paper. So I didn't want to rehash." And she was also convinced many of her interviews would be "taken out of context", adding, "It would've set up some expectation that couldn't be met. I was very publicly going through this thing, and there wasn't an explanation to be given." The 34-year-old is now ready to talk about her love life lows, but she still insists some topics are off-limits - she won't be answering questions about her ex-husband's girlfriend Gwen Stefani. "I got on the phone for the first interview (and the) first question was, 'How do you feel about Gwen?' I hung up."
  3. Rappers Remy Ma and her husband Papoose have renewed their vows and revealed they are expecting a baby. The rappers wed in 2008 while the All the Way Up hitmaker was serving six years behind bars for assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion, and over the weekend (30Jun-01Jul18) they celebrated their nuptials again in a vow renewal ceremony. "This weekend I celebrated a milestone with my best friend, my partner in everything, my husband, my forever @papoosepapoose I love you so much - not only because you are the perfect soulmate but because you are the epitome of a real man, the essence of a great father, and the definition of loyalty & if I could start life over the only thing I would change is meeting you sooner so that I can spend more time with you," Remy wrote alongside a picture of the couple. "We've known each other 13 years & been married a decade we renewed our vows amongst (sic) our closest friends and family members. It was a small, intimate setting and one of the most precious moments of my life... thank you Husband, u always make me happy (sic)." During the ceremony, Remy and Papoose also confirmed they are expecting a baby after he hinted she was pregnant in December (17) by posting a photo of a hospital sign reading "Ultra Sound Waiting Room" on Instagram. "We know we told y'all we were bringing you here so we could renew our vows, which we are, but we also wanted to tell you...," Remy told the couple's guests before Papoose added, "...We're having a baby", as he rubbed his wife's stomach. Remy Ma and Papoose's vow renewal and pregnancy news comes over a year after she suffered a miscarriage at the start of 2017. The 38-year-old, real name Reminisce Mackie, already has a son from a previous romance, while Papoose, real name Shamele Mackie, also has kids from previous relationships.
  4. Chrissy Teigen has poked fun at parenting critics in a new social media post. The Lip Sync Battle co-host and her music star husband John Legend are parents to two-year-old daughter Luna and baby son Miles, who was born in May (18). Chrissy took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of her holding both Luna and Miles and pre-empted any potential criticism of her cradling technique in the accompanying caption. "Should I post the one where his head looks unsupported but my face looks good and Luna is over it, the one where his head is supported but my face is just okay and Luna is over it, or him crying and my face looks okay and Luna is over it?" she wrote. Chrissy also uploaded a series of other images, including one of her showing Luna her new make-up collection for Becca Cosmetics on display in a Sephora beauty boutique. And it appears she couldn't resist giving her 18 million followers a laugh, as in one short video she pretended to steal a tester from her hairstylist pal Jen Atkin's Ouai Haircare range while in the store. While the 32-year-old simply captioned the humorous post with Ouai's Instagram handle at first, she was forced to change her message after some fans shared messages expressing their disapproval over her actions. "EDIT: DO NOT EVER STEAL OR PRETEND TO STEAL YOUR FRIEND'S @THEOUAI TESTERS IN FRONT OF EMPLOYEES. ONE, BECAUSE IT'S WRONG, BUT TWO, IT WILL STARTLE EXTREMELY ANNOYING PEOPLE INTO BEING EXTREMELY OFFENDED ON THE 'GRAM. Update: I am currently scrubbing pots in the back of a Sephora," the star joked. A representative for Ouai seemed in on the joke too and commented: "Damn next time you need a product just hit us up."
  5. Songwriter David Foster is planning another trip down the aisle after asking Katharine McPhee to be his fifth wife. The composer and arranger popped the question in Capri, Italy recently, during the couple's European vacation, according to TMZ sources. McPhee's representative has confirmed the engagement news, while insiders claim the stunned singer was so excited, she was showing off her engagement ring to passers by and immediately jumped on FaceTime to share her happy news with family and friends back in the U.S. Foster was previously married to Linda Thompson, Rebecca McCurdy, B.J. Cook, and model Yolanda Hadid, who he divorced in October (17). Katharine wed Nick Cokas in 2008. They divorced in 2016. The newly-engaged couple only recently confirmed long-running romance reports, with McPhee publicly declaring her love for Foster in a sweet social media post after revealing they were dating in May (18). The 68-year-old posted an Instagram picture of himself posing on a bike trail by the beach, and captioned it, "Summer daze!!", and Katharine couldn't help but gush about her man in the comments section. "So so handsome," Katharine, 34, remarked, before adding, "I (love) you," using a red heart emoji to signify her feelings for Foster. His actress daughter, Sara Foster, has also has been open about her father's relationship with Katharine, dropping hints about their romance before the couple officially acknowledged the dating rumours. In December (17), she told Us Weekly, "We approve of whoever is going to be good to my dad at the end of the day and we're very honest about it. If we ever thought that anyone was in something for the wrong reasons, we would be very vocal about it. We just want someone that's going to treat him well and that cares about him, and I think he's with someone right now that really does."
  6. Adam Lambert has recalled the negative focus placed on his sexuality during his time as a contestant on American Idol. The 36-year-old Queen frontman, who appeared on season eight of the Fox show back in 2009, had already come out to his family. But in an interview with The Guardian, he shared that after successfully auditioning for the show, he found himself under intense scrutiny because of his sexuality, and pressure to come out to the American public. “Look, I’m not dumb. I’d been watching (American Idol) for years and anyone who’d been obviously gay on the show had been made fun of – (Simon) Cowell would make fun of them and they became jokes," he sighed explaining why he initially downplayed his sexuality. "I remember when I auditioned I was worried about that. And then it didn’t happen to me and I was like: ‘OK, cool.’” However, during his first audition judge Cowell referred to his voice as “theatrical”, a coded description Lambert explained was the start of many he heard. And after an article about Lambert headlined The Most Exciting American Idol Contestant in Years (And Not Just Because He Might Be Gay) was published in magazine Entertainment Weekly, speculation intensified. “As I started progressing in the competition, and with the article, I started to realise that my sexuality was becoming bigger than what I was doing, which, fundamentally, I felt was f**ked up," he fumed. Lambert, who lost in the final to Kris Allen, which came after pictures of him kissing an ex-boyfriend were published, finally came out publicly in an interview with Rolling Stone a month after the show ended. “I remember the gay press criticised me for not (coming out) right or well enough,” he sighed. “People were saying: ‘You didn’t declare it on the show.’ I didn’t, but I also didn’t realise that I needed to. I’d already come out.”
  7. Panic! At The Disco led the Official Albums Chart standings every day this week, but at the final hurdle, The Greatest Showman has clinched a 21st week at Number 1. Accumulating the most physical purchases and album streams of the week, The Greatest Showman’s Motion Picture Cast Recording ended the week just over 2,000 combined chart sales ahead of Panic! (2). Now a solo project for the former group’s frontman Brendon Urie, Pray For The Wicked is Panic! At The Disco’s highest charting album since 2008’s Pretty Odd, which also topped out at Number 2. A silver lining for Panic!, Pray For The Wicked was the best-selling album on vinyl over the past seven days. XXXTentacion’s Number 3-peaking collection ? returns to the Top 5 at Number 4 following his death. His first album 17 climbs two to Number 11, a new peak. Jane McDonald’s new album Cruising With…docks up as the biggest indie album of the week! Toppling Johnny Marr’s Call The Comet to enter straight in at Number 1 on the Official Independent Albums Chart, the Channel 5-released collection of covers from the BAFTA-winning TV show also debuts at Number 6 on the main Official Albums Chart, delivering the much-loved cruise ship singer’s highest charting album on these shores in 18 years. Nine Inch Nails and Kamasi Washington also log new entries with Bad Witch (12) and Heaven & Earth (13). A reissue of The Cure’s remix album Mixed Up sees the album return to the Top 40 for the first time since 1991 at Number 16, plus Taylor Swift’s Reputation (19) and Foo Fighters’ Greatest Hits (22) scale the chart following their stadium shows in the UK this past week. The Beatles retrospective 1 reappears in the Top 40 at 31 following Sir Paul McCartney’s inclusion on UK episodes of James Corden’s The Late Late Show. The 76-year-old also announced his new album Egypt Station last week. Finally, two artists make their Official Albums Chart debuts this week. UK rapper Headie One bows at Number 32 with The One Two, and Expectations, the debut album from pop starlet Bebe Rexha, begins at Number 33.
  8. Robbie Williams wonders if he might have Asperger syndrome or be on the autism spectrum. The Let Me Entertain You singer has been open about his battles with depression, anxiety and addiction in the past, but in a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, the British star admitted there is something "missing" inside of him. "There's something missing in me, I have big blind spots," he said. "Maybe Asperger's or autism. I don't know what spectrum I'm on - I'm on something... It's quite hard work being in my head - I have an interesting compulsion, addiction, mental illness, I'd say." The 44-year-old also revealed that some days he struggles to get out of bed and he doesn't know why, and he has a compulsion to Google himself and read the negative comments. "Day-to-day, things change. I do the same things as the day before, but today's a different day and I don't know why it's difficult to get out of bed. It's just who I am," he explained. "What is interesting is my compulsion... to go and seek bad stuff about myself. I'm addicted to the rush... to going, 'I'm an idiot. I can't sing. That song was bad.' It's a curse and a blessing because it propels me forward and has made me the person I am today." The entertainer added that he has learned to handle his issues better in recent years, particularly since becoming a father to daughter Teddy, five, and son Charlton, three, with wife Ayda Field. The Angels singer recently courted controversy when he flicked his middle finger to cameras during the live broadcast of his opening ceremony performance at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and he subsequently explained that he can't trust himself and has no idea what he's going to do at any given time.
  9. John Legend is set to perform at a march protesting the separation of immigrant families in Los Angeles on Saturday (30Jun18). The All of Me hitmaker and Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas will perform at City Hall in Los Angeles for those taking part in the Families Belong Together: Freedom for Immigrants March to voice their outrage at the more than 2,300 children who have been separated from their parents after illegally crossing into the U.S. from Mexico. Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox, Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Senator Kamala Harris, as well as immigrants and refugees, will participate in the event, which also opposes the subsequent detention of separated children in camps near the border. U.S. President Trump signed an order banning the separation, but many children are yet to be reunited with their families. The Ordinary People singer has been vocal in condemning the situation on Twitter, and on Wednesday night (27Jun18) he launched into a foul-mouthed rant when a TMZ reporter asked him about White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was recently told to leave a restaurant because she works for Trump. "Ask me should we be reuniting 2,000 kids with their family. Ask me that...," John responded, and when the TMZ reporter began to ask the question, he jumped in and said, "Yes, we should, I don't care about f**king Sarah Sanders. Reunite the f**king kids with their families and then we'll talk about Sarah Sanders and her f**king dinners." John made the remarks as he left Madeo restaurant in Beverly Hills with wife Chrissy Teigen. The couple are vocal opponents of Trump and his policies, and they donated $288,000 (ÂŁ219,000) to the human rights organisation American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in support of immigrant families in honour of Trump's birthday earlier this month (Jun18).

  11. Google Translated: This site will open the member's "year-end assessment" from July 16, 2018 to August 15, 2018. First, the assessment rules: 1. Appraisal target: members whose registration date is more than 2 months; 2. Assessment method: Adopt incremental assessment system, the incremental indicators are as follows: 1) Upload increment: reach 200G; 2) Download increment: reach 100G (based on system calculation of personal data); 3) Magic value increment: 10,000 points (excluding the magic value points already used for redemption). Note: The above three items must be approved at 24 o'clock on August 15, 2018. 3. Exemption from the test: 1) Donated members marked with Huang Xing; 2) VIP and above members; Second, note: 1) Whether it is in the scope of assessment is based on whether or not the “assessment progress bar” is displayed. If it is within the scope of assessment, the “assessment progress reminder” will be displayed at the top of each page of the website. 2) The sealed members who meet the conditions for assessment shall also be subject to assessment. Please promptly release their own storage status before the assessment and find ways to participate in the assessment. 3) The three indicators of this assessment are all incremental, which is equal to the amount of data at the end of the assessment minus the amount of data at the beginning of the assessment, and these three indicators must pass the assessment at 24 o'clock on August 15, 2018. ! 4) During the assessment period, the mission system is normally open. If the mission fails, the magic will be deducted normally. 5) Be cautious of “magic consumption” during the assessment period, such as invitations, exchanges, spinach, tasks, etc. 6) Incremental example: At 0:00 on July 16th, the data of a member is as follows: the upload amount is 100G, the download amount is 100G, and the magic value is 2000. During the assessment process, no matter how the member exchanges magic power, but at 24 o'clock on August 15th, 2018, the member must reach the following data to be assessed: the upload volume is ≥300G, the download volume is ≥200G, and the magic value is ≥12000. Third, the CHDBits management team has the final interpretation right of this assessment plan. ========== CHDBits Management Group ==========
  12. Give me a break! I give here for free gods.lu, bittorentfiles, HDRoute, and got in giveaway hdchina and Xthor and I have NO demands regarding points. This forum has officially "members shop" with just that reason as you said: to encourage members to be more active. I see your agenda here; you figure it out and see possibility how faster gain points to reach your goal in shop for your interest and not for other members in way how active they are. So in your opinion lets everybody do as you do and then you will see where we will go; to that point, that giveaway section will become a bid for invites and accounts ( who will gave more points )
  13. If it is not in rules it is against logic; in giveaway section is only terms to provide ratioproofs or speedtest / seedbox if giver ask that. You can get only thanks, likes or reputation which variables on different forums. What you did looks like some sort of trade and is not fair to all users . Or looks like you made your own "members shop" section. This is wrong and I advise all users not to give points in these terms.
  14. BLOKES playing netball — even Australian netball superstar Nat Medhurst admits she can barely believe it. “But they are incredible athletes and you’d like to think our sport accommodates everyone,” Medhurst said before tonight’s opening rounds of the men’s WA Netball League competition at the State Netball Centre. “It’s another step forward for our game and if we’re going to harp on about other things women don’t get, then we also need to make sure that we’re inclusive of other genders.” Jerome Gillbard, 24, plays for Australia and is a star of the new WA competition. The game means so much to him that he lost 50kg to play it at a high level. The one-time 150kg teenager is an official training partner with Medhurst’s West Coast Fever women’s team in the national competition. He started playing aged seven in Narembeen, but stopped at age 12 because boys were not allowed to play the game with girls. He believes the men’s league will grow and urged critics to look past the usual thinking about males playing the game. “I was a big lad through high school ... I was never happy with the size I was, but the truth of it is that I probably never had the real motivation to change until I found netball,” Gillbard said. “I still love my footy, but netball is a different sport which offers something different to people who are traditionally maybe not as good as others in those male-dominated sports. For the traditionalists, all I can say is get down there and watch a game or two and if after that they still don’t enjoy it, we’re probably not going to change their mind. “I really would encourage, before people make an opinion, to at least experience the sport ... that’s encouraging your brother, your husband or son just to have a crack and give it a go.” Four teams will compete in the first WANL season’s nine home-and-away rounds and two weeks of finals, including the grand final at the State Netball Centre on September 7.
  15. THEY were hit by injury drama during the week and the Swifts had their semi-final hopes battered and their pride bruised by one of their oldest rivals. A depleted Swifts lineup were beaten at home for the first time this season as the Melbourne Vixens kept their undefeated run against the club in Super Netball intact with a 65-58 win. The devastating loss at Sydney Olympic Park came at the end of a nightmare week for the tight-knit Swifts who lost Claire O’Brien to a season-ending Achilles injury on Tuesday and sharpshooter Sophie Garvin for the round nine game due to a niggling foot injury. It also delivered the Vixens the Sargeant/McKinnis Trophy, named after NSW legend Anne Sargeant and Victorian great and Vixens coach Simone McKinnis, for the second year running. “Vixens look like a top four team for sure. They are in great form and they really came here to play today,” said Swifts midcourter Maddy Proud. “From our side, we let them get on top of us too early and paid the price. “It will be back to the drawing board for us this week.” While Swifts star Sam Wallace gave a shooting masterclass with 48 goals from 50 attempts, it wasn’t enough to thwart a Vixens side on a mission to consolidate their place in the playoffs with just five games of the regular season now to play. Malawi star Mwah Kumwenda, the fourth most prolific shooter in the league, also produced a memorable shooting performance with her haul of 37 goals from 39 attempts for the Vixens. Just six minutes in and the Swifts were trailing by five (5-10), promoting a time out and captain Abbey McCulloch to tell her players to “believe in yourself”. It was a rally cry which saw the Swifts, who were seven goals into arrears midway through the quarter, eventually leave the court for the first break trailing by just four (20-16). By halftime the Swifts had fallen behind by eight - 37-29 - with the team trailing 44-52 going into the final quarter. At game end - and thanks to a rock-solid defensive display - the Vixens had accrued a seven-goal win after beating the Swifts by just two earlier in the season. The Swifts will take on the Giants in a NSW derby in round 10.
  16. Australian Marc Leishman just shaded playing partner Tiger Woods after their opening two rounds at the PGA Tour's Quicken Loans National. Leishman carded a second-straight round of three under 67 to be tied for seventh at six under, after four birdies and a bogey on Friday. Woods wielded his new putter with precision to match his lowest score of the year, a five-under-par 65, to be a shot back of Leishman at five under - in a tie for 11th. The 14-times major champion Woods set the tone for a storming round when his 25-foot birdie putt on the first hole found the dead centre of the cup on a warm and calm morning at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Maryland. In the American's 11th tournament of the year on his comeback from spinal fusion surgery, Woods issued what might be construed as his most ominous warning yet. "As the year's progressed, I think I'm not that far away from putting it together where I can win," he said. Americans Beau Hossler (66), Ryan Armour (65) and Brian Gay (64) share the lead on nine-under, one stroke ahead of compatriot Billy Horschel (68) and Italy's Francesco Molinari (65). Cameron Percy was the only other Australian to make the cut after a 68 left him at three under and tied for 28th. Geoff Ogilvy (75) and Aaron Baddeley (72), both two over, missed out on the weekend by a shot while Matt Jones (74) and Rod Pampling (72) were well off the pace. After missing the cut at the US Open a fortnight ago, Woods switched to a so-called "mallet" putter this week, which he says allows him to make a nice swing at the ball. "It's a good feeling for me, just go ahead and trust it's going to swing," the 42-year-old said. "I don't like blocking putts. I like feeling that toe move and cover that ball and it felt good today." The solid putting was not confined to just his first hole, the par-five 10th. He also banged in two more birdies from nearly 20 feet before suffering a hiccup at the 17th, where he three-putted. However, he rebounded by pitching in from 30 yards for birdie at the next, even reading the break perfectly as his ball curled into the cup as the large gallery erupted.
  17. ROBERT Whittaker insists he can be healed in time to headline a UFC blockbuster at the famed Madison Square Garden in November — an honour that would make him the envy of Australian boxing greats like Jeff Fenech, Kostya Tszyu and Michael Katsidis. The Daily Telegraph can reveal Whittaker’s management is pushing for the UFC middleweight champ to top UFC 231 in New York City, most likely against Long Island local Chris Weidman, if his recovery from a broken right hand continues unhindered. The news continues an incredible rise for the Sydney father-of-three who now holds the tag of Australia’s No. 1 fighter. Outstanding in his first title defence against Cuban monster Yoel Romero earlier this month, Whittaker was dropped twice and fought almost 25 minutes with a broken hand before eventually winning a split decision that is now a lead contender for UFC Fight of the Year. Dubbed Bobby Knuckles by American fight fans, Whittaker also secured a new sponsorship deal with US gaming giant Bethesda after the gutsy win, while his Instagram account jumped to 300,000 followers — a figure which puts him among Australia’s 30 most followed athletes. Better, the 27-year-old, who is now on a run of nine straight wins inside the Octagon, has since emerged from surgery insisting he would be ready to defend by “November or December”. “So Madison Square Garden is a possibility,” manager Titus Day said. “Rob’s the middleweight champ and his last two fights have been wars. So if his hand heals up as quickly as we’re hoping, we would definitely push for him to compete at the greatest fight arena in the world. “And Chris Weidman, as the former champ, would be a perfect rival for that fight. “I’ve spoken to Rob this week and he definitely wants to be ready by the end of the year. “His surgery went well, it was a clean break which is the best you can get, and there doesn’t seem to have been any complications. “So if all goes well, we’ll definitely look at that New York card. It’s traditionally one of the biggest on the UFC calendar and after the way Rob has won his last two fights over in the States, there is huge interest in him now.” Headlining the Garden has long seemed something of a pipe dream for Australia’s greatest fighters. Indeed, despite their storied careers, and several blockbuster fights Stateside, legends like Fenech, Tszyu and Katsidis never fought inside MSG. Same deal Jeff Horn, who was supposed to fight Terence Crawford at the venue before his bout was rescheduled to Las Vegas. The last Australian to headline MSG was Daniel Geale, who fought Gennady Golovkin for the WBA (Super) middleweight and IBO middleweight titles in 2014. However, the Real Deal was knocked out in the third round. Other Aussies have also appeared on undercards at the Garden, including heavyweight Kali Meehan. If Whittaker fails to be ready in time for the New York event, there are two more big UFC cards in December, the later of which will be held in Las Vegas.
  18. LIAPARI was helped by a frenetic race tempo and form jockey Jay Ford’s winning habit to produce an upset result in the feature race at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. Ford rode 10 winners for the week but none of his efforts were better than his ride on Liapari in the Listed $150,000 Civic Stakes (1350m). The die was cast early when noted frontrunner Jungle Edge zoomed to the front while Dreamforce speared over from a wide barrier to settle second and ensuring the speed was genuine. This suited Liapari — a source of frustration at times for trainer Chris Waller because the gelding needs a solid tempo to produce his best — and it was up to Ford to find a path through from well back in the field. Ford was up for the challenge. His confidence is sky high and with good reason as he won on Karavali at Randwick last Saturday, rode a double at Wyong on Tuesday, another two winners at Canterbury on Wednesday, then a treble at Moruya on Friday before his Rosehill brace on Tornado Gal and Liapari. “Liapari appreciated the good tempo,’’ Ford said. “When I gave him a rev up at the 600m, he immediately started to pick his way through the field, got the run on the inside and got himself into the race quite comfortably. “We were able to cut through on the turn and then I exposed him halfway up the straight. “I was giving the leader three or four lengths and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to pick him up. But he really lengthened well late, he surged to the line the last 150m. He has always possessed that sort of ability but usually needs 1600m or 2000m. “It is good signs for him going forward and hopefully this gives him confidence. It has been a while since he has won but on that effort it won’t be his last either.’’ Liapari, a $41 bolter, finished powerfully to run down the game, luckless Dreamforce ($7) by a half head with Flow ($5.50) one-and-a-half lengths away third. Early leader Jungle Edge ($4.60 favourite) held on for fourth, albeit nearly three lengths from the winner. “It was exciting to watch,’’ Waller said of the Civic Stakes finish. “They went really quick, it was a high pressure race. They were flying and it set it up for the backmarkers. “Jungle Edge is a good horse and no one wanted to let him out of their sights. Dreamforce chased him all the way and he still ran second. “Liapari was going pretty well at the 400m, he was certainly going the best of ours, and Jay has given him the good, solid ride he needed.’’ Waller said Liapari is now likely to be given his chance in the Listed $150,000 Winter Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill in two weeks. Brenton Avdulla, rider of Dreamforce, felt if his mount had drawn a better barrier, the result would have been different. Flow was given every possible chance by Corey Brown with the minor placegetters likely to take on Liapari again in the Winter Stakes while Jungle Edge is going for a let-up ahead of a new season sprint campaign. GALA AFFAIR FOR KROGH AND CONLON GALA Moshea won’t go down in the annals as a great but she provided trainer Brett Conlon and apprentice Quayde Krogh with a memorable first Sydney winner at Rosehill Gardens. The Cranbourne-based Conlon said Gala Moshea was his first winner for the 2017-18 season while Krogh is going to apply for an extension to his apprenticeship after the mare’s win in the Book Spring Now Sprint (1100m). Krogh, 26, came out of his time on Saturday but hopes Racing NSW stewards will agree to extend his apprenticeship at least through the winter. “Give Quayde a rap, he’s has been working very hard the last four months at Gai’s,’’ jockey Adam Hyeronimus told the media after the race. He was a late starter and only began riding four years ago. “I was doing a carpentry apprenticeship in Rockhampton but that didn’t really work for me so I gave riding a go,’’ Krogh said. Krogh, who has ridden more than 160 winners, can still claim 3kg in the city and rides as light as 49kg, was seen to advantage on Gala Moshea ($11) who scored by a half-length from the Hyeronimus mount Aimalac Millie ($10) with favourite Brook Magic ($2.30 favourite) just over a length away third. Conlon said he decided to send Gala Moshea to Rosehill as the mare enjoys wet tracks and “works enormous the Sydney way’’. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in this mare and I thought she was spot on for this race,’’ Conlon said. “I didn’t know who I was going to get to ride her but I wanted a 3kg apprentice. I watched some of Quayde’s rides and thought ‘he is a good rider’. He did the job today.’’ Conlon said Gala Moshea’s win broke an exasperating run of near-misses for his runners. “I haven’t had many runners this season and this is my first winner,’’ he said.
  19. TRAINER Phillip Stokes will reassess the plans with exciting filly Assertive Play after she made it two wins from as many starts at Morphettville on Saturday. Assertive Play was impressive defeating Victorian colt Thorondor on debut before an even more eye-catching display at the weekend. Sitting off the speed, Assertive Play cruised past rivals when she found clear galloping room before cruising to a 4.8-length win to continue to the impressive run of Barossa Valley stallion Akeed Mofeed. “She’ll have a couple of weeks off now and we’ll look at nominating for some of the nice races like the Thousand Guineas in the spring,’’ Stokes said. “She’s a nice filly who should only get better, she’s still got a lot to learn.” Goldin Farms general manager Andrew Perryman said Assertive Play was proving a glowing endorsement for Akeed Mofeed, who won the 2013 Group 1 Hong Kong Derby and Group 1 Hong Kong Cup. He retired in 2014 with his owner Pan Sutong identifying the former Lindsay Park property as the perfect place to establish Goldin Farm and start what looms as a successful stud career. “He’s starting to get some results, which is nice, and this filly is showing plenty of promise,’’ Perryman said. “She’s still got a bit to learn, she wanted to lay in again today and is still pretty green but she’s a very nice horse.’’ MEANTIME, John Kelton has enjoyed plenty of success as owner but there was some added satisfaction when Mussoorie Magic won at Morphettville. Not only did the lightly-raced three-year-old upstage regally-bred filly Divanation, but it was a big boost for Kelton’s breeding stock. Mussoorie Magic is a half-brother to Kelton’s former talented mare Tidy Prophet who is now herself a mum. “It’s a great result,’’ Kelton said. “I bred him and put him through the Adelaide Sale where Darren Weir bought him so I was pretty keen to keep a share,’’ he said. Kelton is hoping Tidy Prophet can make the transition from a successful racing career to stud with her first foal by Victoria and SA Derby winner Rebel Raider.
  20. TONY Pike had to settle for a lesser prize than he originally came for, but in winning the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas, set up a platform for The Bostonian to go to greater heights next season. The Bostonian was scratched three times before finally making his Australian debut on June 10 at Caloundra. It meant he missed his target race, the $350,000 Queensland Guineas, but he has now won all three Australian starts, highlighted by Saturday’s $125,000 Group 3 feature. Pike said there was never any talk of pulling the pin on the Australian campaign and he just had to be patient. “We’ve been there and done that before,” he said. “There was always a lot of nice three-year-old races for this horse at the back end of the carnival, so it was a matter of waiting. “It was unfortunate missing the (Queensland) Guineas, but in hindsight he had plenty of time to acclimatise and with three wins in a row, a couple of stakes races, it’s been a good end to the carnival.” Pike has won seven Group 1 races in the past four seasons with Sacred Star, Sacred Elixir and Provocative and suggests The Bostonian is capable of joining that group of horses next season. “I think he is (capable of being up to those horses),” he said. “He’s a very straightforward horse to train. He’s very professional, he’s probably starting to mature, he was a bit weak last preparation, he’s looking a lot nicer horse now and probably next preparation he should improve further. “It’s obviously another step up to Melbourne or Sydney, but we will just have to see the progression. He’s pretty professional. He only does what he’s asked to do. We will get him home, see how he spells and make our minds up from there.” The Bostonian is a son of the New Zealand Derby and Rosehill Guineas winner Jimmy Choux from the Keeper mare Keepa Cheval, who is a half-sister to former champion Kiwi miler King Mufhasa. The Bostonian was beaten 11 lengths at his only other 1600m attempt, but Pike said there was good reason for that. “If you watch the replay he almost went through the running rail after a furlong and pretty much got put out of the race,” he said. “With the pedigree, we were pretty confident he would run out a strong mile.” Punters had no concerns about the mile and backed The Bostonian into a clear favourite. Seaway, who had been top pick for much of the week, eased to $3 and only plugged in the straight to finish out of the placings. Jockey Michael Cahill said he was forced to go for The Bostonian earlier than he wanted to, but the horse responded well under pressure. “I wanted to hold him together until the 200m, but it happened before then and to his credit he responded to hard riding,” Cahill said. “He’s a good horse.” Cahill said The Bostonian handled the wet conditions, but felt he was an even better horse the week before on top of the ground.
  21. Joe Jackson's loved ones have paid tribute to the famous family's patriarch online in the wake of his death on Wednesday (27Jun18). The 89-year-old, who was responsible for the rise of the Jackson 5 in the 1960s and 1970s, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, and his daughter La Toya Jackson was among the first to honour his memory on Twitter. "I will always love you!" she shared. "You gave us strength, you made us one of the most famous families in the world. I am extremely appreciative of that, I will never forget our moments together and how you told me how much you cared. #RIP Joe Jackson". Grandson Randy Jackson Jr. shared an old photo of Joe posing beside a framed record plaque for his son Michael Jackson's classic 1979 album Off the Wall, and captioned it, "RIP to the king that made everything possible!!! I love you grandpa." Meanwhile, Tito Jackson's son Taj reached out to fans for sending their condolences. "We feel all the love and support from you guys and are extremely thankful," he wrote. The 3T singer then followed up the post with another message aimed at Twitter trolls, who didn't hold back in criticising Joe for his allegedly abusive parenting techniques, which included frequent beatings, after hearing of his death. "Disgusted by some of the comments I'm reading about my grandpa Joe by those who didn't even know him," Taj Jackson fired back. "Please don't just regurgitate what you were spoon fed by the press. Joe was loved by our ENTIRE family and our hearts are in pain. Let us grieve without the nastiness." Joe was also remembered by the co-executors of Michael's estate, John McClain and John Branca. "We are deeply saddened by Mr. Jackson's passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Katherine Jackson (Joe's estranged wife) and the family," reads a statement issued to Us Weekly by a representative for the pair. "Joe was a strong man who acknowledged his own imperfections and heroically delivered his sons and daughters from the steel mills of Gary, Indiana, to worldwide pop superstardom... We had developed a warm relationship with Joe in recent years and will miss him tremendously."
  22. Liam Payne has been ridiculed for his answer to a question in an interview about Pride 2018. The singer is supporting Adidas' Prouder campaign alongside the likes of celebrities including David Beckham, Kate Moss and Elton John, with the initiative aiming to raise funds for fighting homelessness in the LGBTQ community. However, Liam delivered an unexpected response in a chat regarding the campaign, after he was asked about what makes him proud. "I think since I've had a little boy, everything changes in life," he told The Evening Standard of his and girlfriend Cheryl's 15-month-old son Bear. "I'm aiming more for him to be prouder of me, and already he's making me a better man, which I think is incredible." As a result, many stunned readers accused the 24-year-old of missing the point of the LGBTQ celebration and mocked him for seemingly believing that Pride, in fact, means being proud of your own achievements. "I'm all for allies vocalising their support but understand what you're supporting. It's not about making your children proud of you. It's about rights you will never understand. It's about equality you have. Check your privilege @LiamPayne and please do some research on #Pride," one angry Twitter user wrote. Another asked: "Is this a joke? What the f**k is going on? Are we just a little branding exercise now for the potato one from 1D and other straights of note?" Though Liam hasn't responded to the controversy, the campaign director DJ Fat Tony, real name Tony Marnach, has stood by his decision to include the former One Direction star in the project. "The articles that have appeared around people's involvement in the Prouder campaign are misleading," he insisted to Gay Star News. "The focus of this activity is to raise funds for the vital work of The Albert Kennedy Trust and as part of that to gain the biggest noise I wanted to include allies who could take this message of unity and equality to the biggest audience."
  23. Joe Jackson has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, aged 89. Michael Jackson's father, who was recently hospitalised, had been battling the disease "for some time" and reports from last week (ends22Jun18) suggested he was facing death. He passed away early on Wednesday (27Jun18), according to TMZ. His final days were surrounded by drama after his son Jermaine told press that he and his fellow family members were struggling to get information about his condition. "No one knew what was going on - we shouldn't have to beg, plead and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this," he said. "We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn't get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick." Days after the interview was published, TMZ reported that the family, including Joe's wife Katherine, had visited him at the hospital, while a Twitter account linked to Joe offered up an update, which read: "I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see. The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes." His granddaughter, Paris Jackson, subsequently assured fans that Joe never used the account or posted the tweet. Jackson's final years were plagued with ill health - he suffered a series of strokes in 2013 and was hospitalised for another stroke in 2015. He also suffered three heart attacks. In addition, he was hospitalised earlier this year (18) following a car crash in Las Vegas. Joe fathered 11 kids, 10 with his estranged wife Katherine, including Michael, Jermaine, Janet, and Tito. He was responsible for the rise of the Jackson 5 in the 1960s and 1970s, but his legacy was tainted by his alleged abusive parenting techniques, frequently beating his kids. Joe confessed to being a hard father during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, revealing he often used a belt to keep his kids "out of jail", insisting it "kept them right".
