  1. Vermintide 2, a first-person brawler about smiting tides of vermin for loot, is the kind of game that lends itself to high skill challenge runs. So it’s nice to see that its forthcoming Chaos Wastes update adds a “roguelite inspired” game mode, which is all about pushing deeper into the game’s hellish quarters for greater rewards.

And these will be new hellish quarters too, as 15 new locations are promised, and they’ll be laid out differently with each run. “Trust your instincts during your explorations, the path you took yesterday can be inaccessible or obliterated,” so reads the Vermintide website. Because each run is different, a lot of emphasis is placed on how you load out with weapons, boons and miracles.

The whole point is to reach the Citadel of Eternity: There’s a lot of lore connected to this place, but in a nutshell it’s where you’ll seek the favour of your gods. Along the way you’ll stumble upon cursed areas, which are basically high-difficulty areas that demand a certain playstyle. It sounds like cooperative play will require a lot of close strategizing and collaboration, so I hope you have friends.

Chaos Wastes rolls out for PC on April 20—it’ll arrive as a title update and you don’t have to do anything fancy to access it. It’s a nice and chunky update for a game that was already very good at launch. “Vermintide 2's combat and level design are so feverishly fun that I'll put up with its bad matchmaking and RPG progression if it means chopping more ratmen in half,” Steven wrote in his review.

  2. Mondo and WaterTower Music are releasing a limited edition 7 disc deluxe vinyl box set of the soundtrack to Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Fans of Zack Snyder's Justice League will be pleased to know the soundtrack by Junkie XL is getting its very own deluxe vinyl box set this month. Demand for the "Snyder Cut" ever since the original Justice League premiered in theaters helped demonstrated how much passion is still out there for the DCEU franchise. Releasing the soundtrack in this manner is a nice way to reward the die-hard fans who never gave up on seeing Snyder's version of the film.

Zack Snyder's Justice League released on HBO Max back in March 2020 to much fanfare from Warner Bros and DC, and a lot of excitement from the fans. The film clocked in around 4 hours, and restored most of the scenes that replacement director, Joss Whedon, had removed from the theatrical cut of the film. The new cut also tweaked some of the plot details, costumes, and effects that had been altered for continuity when Whedon had made his changes.

Now, Slashfilm reports that Mondo and WaterTower Music are releasing a limited edition 7 disc deluxe vinyl box set of the soundtrack to Zack Snyder's Justice League. The boxed set features all of the soundtrack by Junkie XL (a.k.a. Tom Holkenborg), around 4 hours of content featuring themes Junkie XL and Hans Zimmer had crafted through Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Junkie XL returned to the franchise with Snyder to re-score the new version of the film after having been replaced by Danny Elfman for the theatrical release of Justice League.

As for the finer details on the exclusive box set, starting off, it will only be available at the Mondo Shop, and each vinyl will come with a black and white silver foil slip case with artwork by Mondo's own Creative Director, Mo Shafeek. The discs were pressed on 180 Gram Vinyl, with a special laser etched B-Side on the 7th disc. Fans can pre-order the collectible for $200 starting on Wednesday April 14th at the MondoShop.

While Zach Snyder's Justice League may not have been the game-changing experience many fans had hoped it would be, the score should be thought of in a somewhat different category. Junkie XL had collaborated with Zimmer on all of the scores for Snyder's DCEU movies, and it seemed odd to not have their musical input in the original theatrical cut of Justice League. For fans of film music and soundtracks, the most intriguing part of Snyder's new version was the return of Junkie XL's score. His distinctive style can definitely be heard in the new cut with familiar notes that felt more in line with the world Snyder had built. His soundtrack helps tie Zach Snyder's Justice League to all the DCEU movies that came before, showcasing all of the themes they had been working with since Man of Steel. It seems right that just as Snyder finally got his moment in the sun with the release of his cut on HBO Max, Junkie XL also got his recognition with the release of this vinyl box set celebrating his work in the DCEU.

  3. The red band trailer for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard was released and it features Samuel L. Jackson dropping multiple F-bombs. The film is a follow-up to the 2017 action-comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard which finds Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson reprising their respective roles as the film's titular bodyguard Michael Bryce and convicted hitman Darius Kincaid who is also husband to Salma Hayek's Sonia Kincaid, the sequel's focal point. The original was a modest success, grossing $180 million and receiving mixed reviews praising Reynolds and Jackson's performances but criticizing the film's clichéd plot and poor execution.

Like many recent productions, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard has seen production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was originally scheduled for an August 2020 release date, but it was pushed back almost an entire year to August 2021. To conceivably capitalize on the early summer movie rush inspired by confidence in the COVID vaccine rollout, Lionsgate bumped the release of The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard up to June 16, 2021. A traditional green band trailer for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard was released earlier today, but it is now getting the dual trailer treatment after fans on Twitter pleaded with the hashtag #ReleaseTheRedBand.

To answer the demand, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to release the official red band trailer for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, adding the caption #ReleaseTheRedBand as a nod to the social media trend. The trailer finds Reynold's character on a sabbatical from bodyguarding at the behest of his therapist, but his vacation is soon disrupted by Hayek's Sonia who forces him to team up with her to save her husband from the mafia. The clip is nearly identical to the original, except for roughly 25 extra seconds of footage featuring a slew of few Samuel L. Jackson's F-bombs.  Watch the red band trailer below:

A glimpse of Antonio Banderas' new villain in The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard can be seen in the preview, as he can be heard uttering two menacing words: "Kill them." Richard E. Grant will return and reprise his role as Seifert while the sequel will welcome Morgan Freeman and Frank Grillo as newcomers.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is one of a few films in Reynold's impressive 2021 slate that also includes Free Guy and Netflix's star-studded Red Notice. Reynolds has become a significant box office draw and it is clear Lionsgate is positioning the film to ring in a summer of moviegoing that is hopefully unaffected by restraints imposed by the pandemic. As a potential summer blockbuster, its early summer release date in June certainly primes The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard for box office success.
