Just what will Perth’s biggest owner Bob Peters do with his brilliant three-year-old filly Arcadia Queen has everyone guessing.

He’s already said she won’t be appearing in the eastern states for the autumn carnivals and has was tight-lipped on spring plans.

He showed interest in the $7.5 million Golden Eagle and also didn’t dismiss the Cox Plate.

He also mentioned that he’d like to win the Kingston Town Classic again next year for a second time and emulate his galloper Old Comrade’s feat of winning two in a row.

His trainer Grant Williams said you can be sure he’s got a plan already mapped out and he’ll wait to be told what to do.

Peters, meanwhile, had a couple of whacks at Racing Victoria after Arcadia Queen’s win.

He intimated he’d be more likely to run her in Sydney in the Golden Eagle because they haven’t followed Racing Victoria’s ban on regumate.

When asked about the All Star Mile he said he didn’t know what the race was, asking: “What’s that?”

MAHAMEDEIS FLIES FLAG FOR RYAN
Nick Ryan’s described Mahamedeis as the flag-bearer for his stable after he won Sunday’s $125,000 Werribee Cup (2000m).

“I paid $20,000 for him as a yearling, and now he’s won over $500,000,” Ryan said.

Mahamedeis made it back-to-back country cups within a week, after taking out the Traralgon Cup.

“He’s the flag-bearer for the stable. That was a good win after a perfect ride from Luke (Currie),” Ryan said.

“He’s a superior talent. I was really happy with him during the week. I was confident the way he worked that he’d be hard to beat.”

Noel Callow partnered Mahamedeis to his Traralgon Cup success. Currie replaced Callow, who is recovering from a heavy fall at Sandown Hillside last Wednesday.

Ryan said he’d let the dust settle before deciding on Mahamedeis’s program and give him a few days in the paddock.

“A lot of his owners live in Sydney, so we might find a race up there,” he said.

Mahamedeis ($2) beat Second Bullet ($8.50) by 1¼ lengths, with Another Coldie ($5.50) 1¾ lengths away in third place.

COUNTRY KICKS GOALS
A big week or so for country racing in the state.

Wodonga had a crowd of 10,000 for their Cup nine days ago and Pakenham emulated that feat on Saturday.

Last Sunday’s Jericho Cup attracted a crowd of 4500 and the meeting was regarded as an outstanding success.

Already there’s moves from influential Western District racing power brokers to push for a stand alone day.

JUMPS FOR PAKENHAM
Pakenham is likely to get the nod to host its first feature jumps day next year when they will host the Brendan Dreschler Hurdle and the Mosstrooper Steeple.

These races have been transferred from Bendigo as it’s been deemed to unsafe to hold jumps races after two horses died at the meeting in June.

It’s believed the rest of the meeting will be held on the Polytrack.

WEIR AN EAGER LEARNER
Darren Weir’s quest to learn more never stops.

Last week he stayed in Western Australia supervising the preparation of his team at Lindsey Smith’s property.

During the week Weir and Jarrod McLean went to other training properties to see how they train.

They went to Grant and Alana Williams property and also Adam Durrant’s to see how they use sand tracks.

WEEK AHEAD
Racing returns to Flemington for the first time since the spring carnival next Saturday.

Magic Millions lead-up races will be held at Wyong on Wednesday.
