We know that Samsung's Infinity-O display allows the manufacturer to reduce the size of the bezels on its phones even more, without the use of a notch. How? By putting the front-facing selfie sensor(s) on the display, the Infinity-O keeps Sammy's handsets cutting edge and notch free. And during the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which will run from January 8th to January 11th, Samsung will show off another on-display feature.

This new feature is called Sound on Display, and SamMobile says that it will be found on OLED panels for future Samsung phones. Using vibration and bone conduction, it allows users to hear sound by putting their ear to a wide area at the top of the phone. We first mentioned this technology in connection with Samsung back in June. And the latest report says that we are approximately two weeks away from seeing how these displays will be employed in smartphones and televisions.

Like the Infinity-O display, Sound on Display OLED panels will allow Samsung to offer phones with larger screen-to-body ratios. The Samsung Galaxy S10+ is rumored to have a 93.4% ratio. But since a leaked screen protector for the Galaxy S10+ has a cut out on top for the speaker, this technology might not be used until the Galaxy Note 10 at the earliest.

Some Chinese smartphone manufacturers and LG are also expected to show off prorotype handsets with Sound on Display OLED panels next month at CES.
