Ok, so it has been suggested that we add another encode type to our repertoire. I have my opinions on this, but I'm not a dictator so I wanted to open it up to hear what our users had to say about the idea. The gist of it would be the same encoding profile as our PxHD encodes, but in an MKV container, that way PGS subs could be added.

If you have any valuable input, please be sure to chime in on the comments section of this thread. If you'd just like to say yae or nae, please vote on the featured poll on the site.

With that said, I feel I need to give some insight into our encoder situation at the moment.

We currently have 10-12ish encoders on the site

Of those, only 6 have uploaded anything in the last 3 or so months

Since April '19, 2 encoders have uploaded 86% of all of the encodes (1 has 55%, the other has 31%)

Since January '18, 3 encoders have uploaded 76% of all of the encodes (1 has 36%, 1 has 22%, and the other has 18%)

- but one of those 3 hasn't uploaded anything since January (going on 6 months)

I didn't share all of that to try and shame any of our encoders, we appreciate everything that every one of you do. Nor did I share that to try and skew people's opinions on this forum. I just feel it's important that people know about the context of the situation when they make decisions (kinda like: yea, it'd be great to raise minimum wage to $30 / hour and offer free healthcare for all, but where's the money for all of it going to come from?).
