After the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, a new campaign to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse has emerged. Now one of the most legendary director's cuts of all time, the Snyder Cut of Justice League finally arrived on HBO Max and other streaming platforms around the world on March 18th. Early buzz about the film was largely positive, and since its release, it has garnered an overall quite positive reception from viewers.

The entire concept of the Snyder Cut was born out of the last minute reshoots and total overhaul of Justice League in advance of its original release in November of 2017, following Snyder's departure from the movie. Over the next two and a half years, calls for the release of Snyder's original cut grew increasingly loud and ubiquitous. On May 20th, 2020, the Snyder Cut was officially announced to debut on HBO Max, with Snyder also managing to get in one last batch of additional filming this past fall before the movie was finally released on March 18th, and judging from the response, many around the world are eager to see where its story goes after its cliffhanger Knightmare ending.

A new social media campaign bearing the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse has garnered over 1 million tweets, as reported by the Discussing Film Twitter account. Though social media enthusiasm for more films in Snyder's continuity began popping up as soon as people began seeing the Snyder Cut, the new campaign also occurred on the five year anniversary of Snyder's previous DCEU movie, 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a doubtlessly intentional choice and one that has clearly drawn a massive turnout. The campaign was also supported by Cyborg actor, Ray Fisher, with Fisher having shown support to the SnyderVerse continuing previously, as well.

This is far from the first time social media buzz has been utilized by fans of Snyder's DC films. A Twitter campaign on November 17th, 2019, the two year anniversary of Justice League's theatrical release, was similarly huge, with Fisher, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot even jumping in alongside many other celebrities. The campaign also comes at a time when Warner Bros. has communicated a lack of interest in proceeding any further with Snyder's planned five-movie arc.

In a recent interview, Warner Bros. CEO, Ann Sarnoff, declared the Snyder Cut to be the concluding chapter of Snyder's trilogy, and also stated that the studio has no plans to release the increasingly hyped Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad either. Obviously, the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign shows that enthusiasm for Snyder's plans hasn't faded, and if anything, has grown significantly since the Snyder Cut's release. The question is, will Warner Bros. now change course in light of this?

Obviously, it's too early to tell if the latest efforts by Snyder's fans will bear the same fruit as the push for the Snyder Cut did, and Warner Bros. has an entire new slate of DC films on the way to promote. By the same token, the aforementioned two-year anniversary campaign was one of the biggest deciding factors in pushing the Snyder Cut over the finish line, and DC film and television properties now all co-existing as a Multiverse means there would little to no continuity concerns in reviving the SnyderVerse. At the moment, the world will just have to wait and see, but Zack Snyder's Justice League and the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign have clearly shown that interest in where Snyder planned to take things is nowhere near dying out.
