According to publisher Electronic Arts, the Squad Revive mechanic featured in 2018's Battlefield V will return to the series in the next entry, Battlefield 2042. Squad Revive, also known as Buddy Revive, was a Battlefield V ability that allowed players, even non-Medics, to bring back allies from a downed state. While this ability often proved beneficial when things got down to the wire, it could also make or break a match given how long it took to perform the action.

After months of rumors and leaks, EA and developer DICE unveiled Battlefield 2042 days ahead of E3 2021. A gameplay trailer took center stage days later during the Xbox and Bethesda E3 presentation, and several other noteworthy details about the multiplayer-only title have surfaced since then. For instance, the All-Out Warfare mode will allow players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S to join 128-player battles. And a recently released batch of information noted Specialist characters will have access to robot dogs. EA's latest update about the shooter featured another piece of interesting news, too.

As spotted by MP1st, a "Battlefield Briefing" post from Electronic Arts reveals that Battlefield V's Squad Revive mechanic will return in Battlefield 2042. EA divulged as much upon outlining the benefits that come with Falck, a Specialist with access to a Combat Surgeon Trait that revives squamates to full health. "This gives her an advantage over players using Squad Revive, which we’re bringing back to Battlefield 2042," the post reads. Notably, Squad Revive is at a disadvantage as it doesn't bring allies back to full health and takes longer to implement.

Despite the above mentioned drawbacks, Squad Revive will undoubtedly prove beneficial ti Battlefield 2042 players. How often players can expect to take advantage of the feature remains to be seen, though, especially since the new installment is being billed as the biggest Battlefield yet in terms of scope.

DICE and EA plan to share more details about the title during EA Play Live on Thursday, July 22. One of the eagerly-anticipated reveals includes news about Battlefield 2042's mystery mode, a third multiplayer mode that presently lacks even the most basic of details. Yet, rumors and supposed leaks indicate the surprise gameplay option will give players access to something known as Battlefield Hub.
