Brie Larson has shown off her intensive Carol Danvers workouts in a new training video for Captain Marvel 2. Officially dubbed The Marvels, the sequel will feature Larson’s character alongside Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel. Captain Marvel 2 is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on November 11, 2022, directly following Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Though the first Captain Marvel premiered to one of the more lackluster critical receptions in MCU history, Larson’s performance and version of Carol Danvers were praised. The Kong: Skull Island star followed up her Marvel Studios debut with a supporting role in Avengers: Endgame, where she firmly established Captain Marvel as one of the most powerful characters in the entire MCU. Carol hasn’t been seen in the franchise since the end of Phase 3, but a lot of Phase 4 plotlines – such as the introduction of Monica Rambeau in WandaVision – will tie into the story of Captain Marvel 2.

According to a new training video posted to Twitter by Larson, she’s already taking her MCU return very seriously. The clip shows Larson lifting massive weights in a garage workout with the help of her trainer, showing off the muscle she’s built up to re-don the mantle of Captain Marvel. With several of “Marvel” characters entering the scene in The Marvels, Carol Danvers will have to push herself to the limit if she wants to stay the strongest – something Larson clearly understands. It’s no secret that Captain Marvel could beat most any other character in the MCU one-handed. Her displays of sheer force have become her calling card, and Larson is clearly channeling that superhero energy into her preparation to reprise the role in The Marvels. Hopefully, the new film can give Carol Danvers a more compelling personal story to go along with her immense superpowers – something the franchise has fallen short of up until this point.

Of course, with new and even more powerful foes entering the Marvel Universe in Phase 4, Carol might have to put as much effort into her training as Larson currently is. Loki set up Kang the Conqueror as the next big bad for the series, and the reinstatement of the multiverse could mean any number of classic comics supervillains rising to the big screen to threaten the Avengers and their allies. Fortunately, Larson’s latest training video shows that Carol should be more than up to the task when Captain Marvel 2 releases on November 11, 2022.
