Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

A new glitch has appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War where the recently added Crystalized Weaver skin is disabling aim assist for other players. The new skin was brought to this game as part of Black Ops Cold War's fifth season, which launched earlier in the month of August.

New glitches appear throughout the ongoing Call of Duty titles including Black Ops Cold War and its companion Warzone, and they often appear in unique ways, like being able to equip five guns at once. This is something players have come to expect as the developers behind the series are constantly adding new content to their games and every now and again a bug manages to make its way through as well. Glitches normally revolve around a particular mechanic or item a player is using and it usually only affects just that player.

YouTuber Guny, however, has seemingly discovered a new bug in Black Ops Cold War that has to do with the Crystalized Weaver skin, but it only affects the opponents of a player who is using it. The skin somehow manages to disable aim assist for anyone that is shooting at an individual using the aesthetic. Guny's video showcases two players testing to see if the bug is truly there for nearly five minutes. The Crystalized Weaver skin was recently added to Warzone, however, no similar glitch has yet been reported from that title.

In réponse to one of the comments on their video, Guny points out that the major issue with this glitch is not that aim assist turns off. It's the fact that the mechanic randomly turns off and on, which can throw off a player's rhythm in the middle of a match. The glitch can be especially frustrating when the aim assist turns back on but locks onto the trail of the individual using the Crystalized Weaver instead of the actual player. Restarting the game has apparently not worked either in fixing the bug.

Even though this is a unique glitch, it seems like something that can easily be remedied by Call of Duty's development team. Cosmetics are normally not meant to impact gameplay and in its current iteration, the Crystalized Weaver certainly provides the players using it a distinct advantage. While the skin currently remains in-game, there is always a possibility that Treyarch will remove it from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War until the source of the bug can be identified and fixed.
