One Nintendo Switch fan has developed an app that streamlines Nintendo's needlessly complicated process of sharing screenshots to phones. The Nintendo Switch console was originally released in 2017 to high praise for being a simple and easy way to play video games on the go. The console has been so successful that the Nintendo Switch is nearing the Wii sales record. While the console boasts a solid lineup of first-party games, it's also notorious for its constant game of catch-up with important features present on other gaming platforms.

When the console first released, the only way of transferring screenshots to other systems was to post the images directly to social media and then download them to other devices from there. Many people, understandably, didn't want to keep posting random images to their social media accounts and then saving the image and deleting the post. Even with the complaints, it took Nintendo around three years to release the Nintendo Switch update that made sharing screenshots easier, but the new process, which involves using two different QR codes on top of opening a browser and long-pressing to save each image afterward, is still considered to be a hassle and a nuisance.

Reddit user CodeFusion has decided that they've had enough of Nintendo's complicated and slow method for saving screenshots, building an app from the ground up that's made specifically to streamline the process. This app, titled Switch Transfer Tool, lets users "download, manage, and share your screenshots and videos from the app with just one QR code scan." The app was created to be as streamlined as possible, with no ads, no accounts, and no data collection, meaning there's even less of a hassle for anyone looking to quickly share screenshots and videos to their devices.

Currently, the app is only built to run on most Android 10+ p;hones, meaning that users of older devices won't be able to use the new app, but the developer has stated that they're in the process of making it compatible with older versions as well. There's also a crashing issue for a small number of users that's in the process of being fixed as well. While this app is exclusive to Android, the developer has shared a similar app in the post called SwitchBuddy for those searching for an IOS alternative.

This app is an example of the features that Nintendo has yet to refine on its system; this delay might be explained by the Nintendo Switch's success, which could be hurting fans since the console is still selling units and games regardless of the fan-requested features missing from the system. While other consoles are vastly ahead of the Switch in terms of features and accessibility, the console is still going strong thanks to its versatility in terms of handheld gaming and Nintendo's track record of developing highly rated games on the platform. Hopefully, this kind of development in the community pushes the company to enhance the Nintendo Switch's features, but if the company's past has anything to say about the matter, it's more likely that the developer will receive a cease-and-desist letter instead.
